You would definitely qualify for the Child tax element, I'm not sure if being self employed means you can't get the working tax element....but after X amount you don't get the WTC element anyways, we don't get that part and OH earned 26k I believe last year, and we get about £10.52 a week - Rolling in it :p

    Yes missy!

Maybe because you were off sick from work, they told you, you weren't eligable for WTC as you can't claim that when you aren't working, obviously, but even if you are unemployed you are still entitled to the child tax element.

Please phone them. But be aware, they want to know everything, if a pigeon farts near you, they want the juicy details :p

Yay Celia! :D ETA: And Elijah! :D

I've got the video of Rhys rolling, although I'm trying to get OH to remove the sound as I don't think anyone needs to hear my manic cheering at the end :o He does cheat in it though, cos he's got one arm under him. He usually does it with both arms out flat to start with.

Chopsticks, Rhys probably started doing it 2-3 weeks ago when he was 11wks (or should have been 2wks) but he's had a lot of time to lay there and kick about to build up his strength. All the docs and nurses who see him say he's surprisingly strong but I'm not sure if they mean for his age or just for his dinky size (because they don't expect it).

    Mel.. thankyou! :D

just a quick one to say motm definetly defintely claim tax credits!!! i reckon you'l be entitled to a fair sum with 7kids!! mine increased loads when i went from 1 child to 2! it doesnt matter about owning ur own house either, x

Then i've been given all the wrong info down the years from people at the job centre and everything. I was told it was means tested and as my house was my own and valued fairly high, it counted towards the threshold and I was over it.

...MotM, very roughly, with 7 kids and say, hypothetical annual income of £25k (excluding child benefit), I think you would get around £6k a year. It would taper off slowly as you approach around £58?k where it stops.

    Please start claiming now!

Probably a little bit less than 25k, but with bonuses, you are not far off. 6k a year? That's mental and i've never claimed. I feel sick _pale_

I shall try and claim and see what they say.

Thanks to you all for the info.

Do they walk with their hands in the air - DD did for the first few weeks she just looked so funny - I couldn't help thinking of the chimps that you see on TV.

MOTM - check the link and claim. DH and I both work over 30 hours a week and earn over £30K between us have a house (with a mortgage) and get about £500 a year (with 1 child).

Not always "in the air", sometimes kind of madly pumping in an attempt to re-balance as he totters along... but yes, not just casually by his sides like a big boy :p

£6k was a horrible guesstimate and apologies if it turns out to be totally false, but I spent a while looking at it some time back and having 7 kids and a relatively low household income means you really get top of the range credits... fingers crossed for you MotM! With 1 baby I get £4 :( time to more have babies :A once I can talk OH round

(ETA - I think/thought being self-employed actually means you get MORE ctc/wtc... I may be wrong didn't look at that closely)

I'm not self employed, but the company let me do my work in my workshop at home as there is no need for me to be onsite.

Does Missy mean something else where you are, as here it means i'm a girl :rotfl:

Oh, we have a tree outside where pigeons like to mate :o

    hi all,

trying to catch up on thread (would be able to keep up with it if i was at work like i did with the pregnancy thread :-) )

i have a stinking headache and no paracetamol in the house.

still having trouble with LO sleeping which must be related to the teething. she is obviously teething as her hands are constantly in her mouth/dribbling/nappy rash but i can't see any others coming through and the one she has had for a while still hasn't broke through yet.

i am still having trouble getting her milk into her. this morning she didnt take any milk until gone 11am and she only had a few mouthfuls of yoghurt at breakfast. she has taken a lot of milk this evening know.

i think i know why she might not take milk in the morning though. where she wakes so much during the night and i do offer her the bottle a lot of the time. i think i am going to stop doing that, try and settle her with other methods (whatever they may be) and see if that makes a difference.

i know i wanted to comment on different things but my head has gone fuzzy so please excuse the self indulgent post.

    hope everyone is well xxx

Yeah it means girl, hehe, just kinda chastising you for listening to silly sods at the jobcentre, they don't know anything there....

Where are you from anyways MoTm, I know how you are about disclosing too much, country will do, I don't need your postcode :p

You ever seen those pigeons with the manky deformed feet? Scary things.

Hey, anything is more than I get now, so if I got say £24 a week that's £3 a week each for all 8 of us more than we are getting.

Good luck with the OH. Even if she doesn't want more babies, the fun whilst protected will make up for not getting that extra £4 :rotfl:

You would deffo qualify for at least £10 a week per child, as OH earnt more than you said you did, and that's what we get for 1 child. Plus you'll get a big jolly whack 3month backdated amount, that will pay for Xmas in the moon house!
