Yes you will get them! Omg.....can't believe no-one has ever told you too claim! Doesn't matter that you own your home outright!

As long as you don't earn over 55k a year or something, you will get something, plus you have 7 children.....you are missing out on lots of £££ per week missy!

I think you can only backdate a claim for 3months though :( so you won't get all you've missed, but it's something :D

Oh, before I go - MOTM how did today's cakes turn out?

    Night night all

As posted a couple of pages ago (easily missed as this thread moves ffaaaaaaaaaaaaassst!)

Well, we made the cakes and the flour seemed to work a little, thanks chopsticks. Some still sank, but a few ended in the middle. Not bad for a first attempt under the new regime!

My 11yo went 'Daaaaad, look, the chocolate chips are not all at the bottom, that woman on the internet was right' so you have a fan chopsticks

Done my weekly shop on line with Asda tonight £2 with free delivery thanks to a code - could do without the added stress on top of my week.

Off to Chester tomorrow with DD she needs some stuff for holidays and I need some new swimwear - DD is more excited about the bus ride (we do the park and ride).

No, I don't get them. I've never applied. Never been advised too. You think I may get them? I work 16-30 hours per week from home, but I own my own home outright, which I think disqualifies me? If I'm totally wrong, then I should really start claiming.

Didn't think Child Benefit was means tested, hence we get it :) Thank goodness for that!

I bet some greedy rich people claim. Principle and all that!

...MotM, very roughly, with 7 kids and say, a hypothetical annual income of £25k (excluding child benefit), I think you would get around £6k a year. It would taper off slowly as you approach around £58?k where it stops.

    Please start claiming now!

I have never made a second dinner for my kids EVER...Sometimes, when they were younger mealtimes became a bit of a battle, but I didn't care;) They now eat everything given to them:D
Seconded here too! Mine will eat almost anything now!

Question for everyone with bigger children: DD1 (Almost 9) has found a sudden interest in cooking. She made hers and DS's tea tonight, pasta with sauce and garlic bread. She made beans on toast for lunch the other day for them too. Any suggestions for other quick and easy things she can make (under supervision) for their dinner?
There is a CSA board here if you do wish to pursue it at any point. I believe the rules about how much of the maintenance you would be allowed to keep if you're on benefits may be changing.

No, don't go there! :rotfl:The CSA and benefits boards are full loonys sitting waiting to judge and leave incorrect/bitter replies! :rotfl:
If you need to know anything, there could possibly be some fairies on here who work for the csa! ;)

 The only time I mentioned it, I was told I didn't qualify and I haven't bothered asking to be re-assessed since then. That was a few years ago when I was off sick from work.

No, nowhere near 55k  Missy? :rotfl:

I may have to look into that. I'm sure there is some reason I can't claim it. I'm single? Work from home? Something, i'm sure of it.

Fritha, yay for Celia :) she is about 7 weeks older than Elijah but he too started walking this week - very tottery and amusing and hasn't really worked out how to stop except by sitting down or walking into an object he can cling to :) good fun! :T
