I have successfully washed a Lakeland suede jacket which I bought cheap on Ebay.
Gentle 30 deg wash - did use softener and gave it a quick spin at low speed just to get some of the water out. Then air dried out of the sun if the weather lets you dry outside - it does take a couple of days.
The coat was only slightly stiffer than before and I think it will soften up with wear.
    I also ironed the lining.
I wouldnt recommend this for cheap suede jackets or a jacket that you have paid a lot for.
Washing didnt get rid of all the marks - there are still black wear lines on the cuff although they are fainter but I dont think dry cleaning would remove them either.

I love the idea if washing my suede jacket in the washer. It was a very expensive jacket in Mauve suede, with fringe and sequins. I can't pay $85 - $100 to a cleaner. I will let ya know how it turns out. Thanks!
Also, I have a question about cleaning suede... I read somewhere online to mix white vinegar and olive oil, but lost the "recipe". Does anyone happen to have it, as well?
