I discovered that one of my cats decided to use my suede hand bag as a toilet over the weekend and wee'd all over it. It has now dried out and I was going to attempt to wash it (it's already ruined so I figure it's got to be worth a try to possibly rescue it).

Does anyone have an ideas of the best way to do this, or any other ideas on what I could do to save it?

If it was me i would put it in a pillowcase and on a gentle wash.

well - I wash my real sheepskin rug! comes up lovely! The only thing is that I have found it responds best to being dried in the tumble dryer on hot! cool tumble dry, line drying or putting over the bath has all resulted in the backing going stiff! dunno whether suade would be the same!

I don't have a tumble dryer, do you think a hairdryer might be a suitable alternative?

wash it on low spin and air dry. i had a bottle of milk leak in a suede bag and this cleaned it up fine :) i don't think it's ruined the texture, or at least it still looks like suede

Dont see why a hairdryer wouldnt work - but you will be there a looooonnnng time! can you hang the bag in warm airing cupboard? or over a radiator? my rug dried ok with the line method - it got rather stiff though! but if you dont mind that in a bag, use any drying method you have!
perhaps a good brushing with a suade brush would soften it anyway?

Hi.I have a black suede tasselled jacket which has been left uncared for in garden shed. I will have to throw it out probably but thought I might as well see if it can be rescued.(good info for the future). The jacket is of good quality suede leather and is extra large sized.

It has one faded arm because of where it was left hanging, but is faded in other places too(what might restore the colour as dont really want the bother or expense of suede dye), is stiff and a bit smelly.
Any thoughts as to how It might be restored?
Since it will be binned if it cannot be saved I am not loosing anything by trying any tips you think might help.So thank you if you have any tips that might be tried. I've nothing to lose !!
