Hello OP,
Just to freshen it up, hang it up in the open air or close to an open window.
If it has pockets and these are musty, put some bicarbonate of soda in (tied up in muslin if you like) and leave for a day or two.
You could even consider hoovering the whole jacket with the nozzle on a vacuum cleaner, with a stocking over the end of the nozzle if you're worried about marking the suede with this.
Then you can make a better decision about how much actual cleaning it needs.

If it's an expensive jacket then don't do this...
wash it
I've washed suede in the washing machine (a jacket, not of any great value). The edges came out a fraction worn, but a suede brush sorts that out.
I think it was a cool wash, and I don't think I used any detergent, or only a teeny teeny amount. Allowed it to drip dry.0 -
I have sheepskin boots that regularly go in the washing machine, and I use soapnuts with them, so I guess this is likely to be OK for suede. I would only try it if it is a fairly robust jacket though, not a delicate one.
The only problem at this time of year is how long it'll take to dry...0 -

You have more chance of removing the ink if it hasnt dried fully but don't use water to keep it moist! Spray with a cheap hairspray with a high alcohol content and use a soft cloth to remove the ink. Or dab it with rubbing alcohol on a cotton wool ball
Hope this helps!0 -
thanks very much, used hairspray and it worked perfectly!0

I've read all this thread and others but some of the older links aren't working so wanted to check if there are other answers out there?
I've won a lovely suede coat on ebay and want to give it a clean but like many before me am not prepared to spend £35+ at the dry cleaners. I do have a steam cleaner and read the tips about steaming and using a suede brush any other ideas? I've not found anything in any other threads.0
