Afternoon all
Moliere many many congrats on the birth of your new granddaughter, glad she is here safe and sound. I bet you can't wait to get back to see her now.
As I said before not alot of OS going on here at the mo so nothing really to report. Home from work now so have a small pile of ironing to get rid of before it gets bigger!! Then have to make some hobnobs, to keep the stock in the freezer up to date. My DS gets withdrawal symptoms if he hasn't got any to nibble on
I think I will put some ginger in them this time for a change.
Have a good day all xxxx0 -
Okay Im back ,
Just spent the majority of my dinner hour wolfing down food and reading this thread ..
Tried to make bread then realised my element is broken in my breadmaker , so it rises the bread too much grrrrrr
So ended up with a house filled with smoke and a broken breadmaker , I couldnt put it in my oven as I am still "debating" with whirlpool who will pay for my oven to be fixed
One thing im gonna try is to clean the element , then try Jam.
I have bumper amount of chillis , DH asked what we are going to do with them , I said , dry , jam , pickle .
He asked if I was getting ideas off here I said yes.. Hes okay about it , but said I was a loony trying to make things from scratch considering I work full time..
I will become an Old schooler for my own sanity asn my familys health .. lol
I love making bread and Dh really loves it so i think a new breadmaker may be on the cards .
Moliere Well Done to the new arrival .. make sure youstart drumming those old school ways into her as soon as you see her ...
:rotfl:
Well thast my dinner over ... Ill see you all later .. please dont post too much as i need to spend some time with the hubby later

Afternoon everyone!
I only seem to manage to get on here during school holidays, but follow the thread when I can.
Mioliere - I followed your move to France and now discover that you have a new grandaughter:j:j:j:j:j
Halight - have followed the twins' progess. They must be growing fast!
N9eav -hoping your tackle is still OK!:eek:
Essexgirl - which part of Essex are you in? Terrible news about the wee lass gone missing in Clacton.
I am sitting in my house surrounded by packing boxes, waiting for an exchange/completion date. Moving house is certainly up there with bereavement and divorce for stress levels. Been there and done all three now!
Am still sticking religiously to my OS ways. Weekly meal plans, budgeting, freezer-filling etc. etc. etc.......:T But, oh, how I wish I was in my new house...
DS1 and DD1 have gone to France with their daddy for two weeks. Have spent the morning cleaning/packing up their bedrooms:eek: We have so much 'stuff'....
Glad to be back in touch with you all

Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Just want to say huge congrats to Kathy and family on the new baby girl :j:j:j:j:j Hope your DIL is feeling OK. You'll all have to spoil her rotten:D
hilstep, everything crossed for your DD. Congratulations to you all.
Haribo, glad you managed to rescue so much of the garden. Hope you're having fun with your girly day. I used to have them with nieces, now it's with their daughters. I've learned one lesson though, never travel home by anything other than your own car after they've done your makeup for you. I don't think the taxi driver has recovered yet
Pam, lovely to hear from you :T:D Do try to pop in more often.
Just back from shopping, having a quick coffee and a cake, then out to the garden to work the cake off
It's another beautiful day here, so I will do some washing, it's daft to miss such good drying weather.
Hope everyone has something nice in their day, CM xYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Afternoon all.
Have read the w/e threads, but not retained a lot, so replies will be random. Apologies in advance if I miss out something momentous - it's not spiteful or deliberate, just my non-functioning brain.
Right, here goes:
Happy belated birthday DonnyGal.
Congrats Mioliere & family. I bet it's relief all round now DGD has finally put in an appearance.
Hilstep OUCH! Having had a fall myself recently, mucho sympathy.
Cranky sorry, can't help you, mate. I'll look after any dog you care to put my way, but I draw the line at children; I know my limitations!
Diva glad to hear that you've been "conversing" with Tristan.
Someone (sorry, can't recall who) mentioned toms not ripening - I thought mine weren't going to, but now suddenly they've started going red with a vengeance. So don't give up.
I have a canine lodger this week, that I didn't even know was coming til she turned up. The lady from the dog-sitting service forgot to ring and confirm and tell me the dates! Anyway, luckily we'd just got back from the farmers market, so we were available to recieve her, and she's now snoozing happily on an old blanket on the sofa.
Oh poo, I know there was more I was going to reply to, but I really don't have the energy to go back and re-read just now.
Random ((((HUGS)))) where they're needed/wanted - hope that will suffice for now.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
:j:T:j:T:j:TCongratulations Kathy!!! :j:T:j:T:j:T
Having a lovely day here
. Make up and hair not done yet but victoria sponge is in the oven and the girls are playing in the garden. Another load of washing to go on the line and then chicken and bacon club sandwiches for tea.
Haribo x0 -
Afternoon everybody and big congratulations to Mioliere
Having a reasonably productive day chez Thrift. I've done the shopping at the supermarket and farmshop -still not found any damsons for sale. I've bought an incredible amount of sugar. I seem to be using a lot at the moment what with all my preserving. DS1 is making ginger beer so we need stocks in for that.
I had my parents round for lunch yesterday and we had roast chicken so today I'm making stock and it'll be chicken hash for tea. Leftover chicken fried up in the saved chicken fat with potatoes, carrots and leftover gravy. Green veg plus leftover bread sauce. Bit like Boxing Day really. There's some greengage crumble leftover too for pud.
I've also got 2 packets of chickpeas soaking ready to cook tomorrow for the freezer and I've started a small batch (1 large jar) of bread and butter pickles -that's cucumber and onion. I've picked a good bowlful of blackberries and stashed them in the freezer.
The laundry is nearly dry as it's a nice sunny day here so I'm off to do a bit of ironing now DS1 has finished ironing his air cadet uniform -he's 'bulling' his parade shoes now, bless him.0
