Morning!
Congratulations Kathy! I had two of my three by c-section, it's not that bad, just takes a bit longer to get over. Make sure your DIL gets plenty of rest as she will be back up on her feet much quicker that way.
MS Diva: Any chance of the recipe for Ginger Hobnobs? They sound yum!
Am up and at 'em this morning, have already made 3lb of blackcurrant jam using blackcurrants from my inlaws garden, and later I am going to make spiced plum chutney. I love this time of year, there's nothing better than building up astock of goodies for the winter!

Lakeland made a bit of a mess of my last order, there were items missing but their computer system said that everything had been sent, and they sent the order to an old address from 3 years ago (which definitely wasn't the address on my account). I emailed to ask when the rest of the delivery would come and got a very sharp reply that it had all been sent and that if it had gone to the wrong address it must have been because I had supplied the wrong one! I phoned to speak to someone and their attitude was completely different, they sorted it all out for me and dispatched the missing items to the correct address. Later that day I had another email from them apologising and they sent me a £10 voucher to make up for any inconvenience.
Usually their customer service is fab so I was suprised at them being funny about it, although at least it has left me £10 better off!0 -
mioliere congratulations  best wishes to the family0

Mioliere - that's fantastic news
Congratulations on your new family member
Mushroom burgers: 2 cups mushrooms (yesterday I used the foray results, so chicken of the woods (cooked first), ceps, random not toxic boletus, some honey fungus (caps, cooked first as quite hard) and field mushrooms, but anything works - if they mushrooms are hard ones then steam them for a bit first. Normal mushrooms work fine, but using the larger, older, darker ones is a good plan as they have more flavour and you can supplement the flavour by adding some reconsituted dried ones)
1/4 packet of squishy tofu (or an egg - this is just a binder - I was vegan for ages, so the tofu just harks back to that!)
1/3 cup (or scant handful) sunflower seeds/pumpkin seeds (normally I toast them a bit with chilli first so they are a bit crunchier)
1 small onion and 1 garlic clove(chopped and sweated until soft)
Suitable seasoning - I normally add a bit of soy sauce and some chilli, but it seems to work well with a squirt of barbeque sauce too.
Breadcrumbs (or wheatgerm)
Stick everything in food proceesor, blend until smooth paste, adding breadcrumbs until the mixture is stiff enough to form into patties - add salt to taste. Make into patties and bake in the oven 20 mins or so turning once - frying normally doesn't work well as they can be a bit fragile.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

Mioliere - Kathy - Millions of Congrats to you & DIL & family! Wonderful news! Have a safe trip.
Hilstep - Congrats to your DD too! - will keep everything crossed that it goes well this time. If you don't mind a bit of advice - if her PCT is like ours she can ask for an early scan (about 7 wks is the earliest you can reasonable expect to see a heartbeat) to set her mind at rest as she has suffered a previous loss. I do know, from some fertility websites which I'm a member of, a couple of ladies who have had to 'fib' that they had a little bleeding to get this in some areas - depends on local NHS 'rules' it seems. MY GP did say that if I hadn't had a 7wk scan at the fertility clinic, he would have referred me for one anyway with me having had an ectopic and a MC, so if might depend on how sympathetic the GP is...
Halight - glad the twins are feeling better.
N9eav - I agree - I've been popping into Tesco lately as it is close to the secure unit where dad is at the mo, but I find that it is more expensive than ASDA and I think their own-brand stuff is not such good quality...they do have cheap petrol though which is a bonus!
AFM - well I did a bit of 'bargain hunting' at the w/e and got some half-price maternity clothes in the sales, as my trousers & jeans won't do up anymore (been holding them together with an elastic hairband for the past week!). Even more tired that before (didn't think that was possible) and couldn't manage more than 2 hours in the shops without needing to go home for a lie-down!
Took Mum to visit a couple of homes where we might be able to get a place for Dad, at least short-term if not permanent, when he has to leave the secure unit next week. They think he may be well enough for a 'normal' residential home which has some experience of dealing with milder forms of dementia, rather than a full-blown psychiatric unit bed. We found a really very nice one, and arranged for them to go into the unit and assess dad next week to see if they will take him, so fingers crossed. Then we need to convince him to actually go there, as it's not a mental-health bed he can't be forced... Oh well, one step at a time! The important thing is that the Case Worker accepts that Mum is not well enough to look after him back at home at the moment, so she is on our side.
Oh and I have my first 'proper' maternity cravings - banana milkshake and chocolate raisins! - Very strange as normally I don't have much of a sweet-tooth...
Have a good day all!
