Sorry about Whisp, but for what it is worth you can take comfort in the fact that you enabled her to have a comfortable and happy life - certainly a better one than those abandoned creatures you mentioned. Hopefully the PM will go some way to solving a few mysteries. Give the other guinea pigs a few extra treats today from me.

    ...and extra treats from Nargle

    (Thanx Hun :kisses3:)

    Hi Buffy

Hope you had a good Christmas....did you give your girlies any sprouts :rotfl:

My sleeping patterns are all to pot but I am eating a proper meal each day - roast beef on boxing day, fish pie on sunday and stir fired beef and mushrooms yesterday (course I can;t promise that I ate at a reasonable time - think last night I ate after 10pm )

I am tending to spend a lot of my day at the moment in a slight state of paranoia - going from cage to cage to check they're all still OK :o and that's in addition to all the vets visits and the twice daily drug/meds/food round that is starting to wear me down as it takes over an hour each time and doesn;t leave much room for flexibility to do other things.

So while this little critter crisis continues I';m just holing up sorting out all the paperwork (not done much of that today :o) and not making any plans to go out at all (which is fine as it means I won;t spend any money - well other than on vets bills which are now over four figures )

Right I'm off to plan tonight's dinner.....I got a load of stuff on Christmas eve from the whoopsie shelf (mince/liver etc) that has been sitting in the freezer ready for batch cooking - sigh..not in the mood to do all that tonight...so suppose I could do that tomorrow :o and settle for a defrosted block of chicken stew tonight

I am going to try and stay very calm. As the forum will be closed later I thought I;d get this out now .

I'm actually not sure whether I want to cry from hurt or from rage.......my mother has just rung and after telling her about Whisp and Charlie, (and answering her question as to the current status of the vets bills - bad move :wall:)... I happened to mention about my whoopsie bargains in Sainsburys in response to her relating about her turkey curry fest.

She then started lecturing me on how I shouldn;t be spending this type of money on the guinea pigs and I should just let them all die so I can spend more on my food :mad:

I (quite calmly ) pointed out to her that
    a) an emergency call out for euthanasia cost twice as much as having Charlie sorted today during normal surgery hours so
    b) was she also therefore suggesting I do my own euthanasia to save money. If so what would she suggest I use - perhaps a baseball bat?
    Furthermore
    c) She has no right to tell me how to spend my money, if I earn it I can choose to spend my money how I wish. There is a difference between not eating properly and buying sensibly and stockpiling meals in the freezer as a fabulously frugal female (Lula please note!) and finally ......
    d) I do not (and have no right to) tell her what to do with her money. How would she feel if I told her not to spend so much money on for example "her grandchildren"

(obviously hit a raw nerve then as she got very defensive about the grandchildren, at which point I told her that maybe I had used the wrong example but I was nevertheless VERY upset by her comments and she rang off to go for a pee)

She doesn;t normally get to me these days but oh boy has she hit my hot buttons tonight :mad::mad:........having said that, on reflection I think I handled the actual interaction quite positively and stood my ground for once rather than just absorbing it all and going away to stew. Now I;ve got rid of the initial shock/gut reaction, I shall go see my guineas and give them lots of cuddles.

Clearly the counselling is working :D :T

You can spend more on your food. You just choose not to. Why? Because you're scrimping on the supermarket's profit margin, and not on the quality. That's the whole point of yellow label - it's the supermarket's logistical screw-up - not yours.

Or you could just put them on the phone to her. That'd sort 'em...

No. Maybe you hadn't used the wrong example.

Probably be reported to RSPCA :rotfl::rotfl:

No. Maybe you hadn't used the wrong example.

I did choose my example carefully :whistle:

    As she intended.
