hi wol - don't know if you have a Lidl's near you - but they are doing 2kw oil filled radiator with integral 500w blower for £29.99

I think that's good. + had a huge bag of sprouts for 29p - so if your piggies can stand another dose of them that should see them through for a while

Ooh thanks Mark - there's a new one opened up in a town about 15 miles away. I will go there tomorrow :j
    Love your avi :D -

How's you Hun - hope you had a peaceful Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year - have you made any resolutions?

    Oooops.
    Sorry to hear your news.
    Take care x

    Hi Beanie

Thanx Hun. Hope you had a peaceful "taxi-free" Christmas and "you know who" behaved themselves. ;)
Have you still got snow up your way? Ours all melted on Christmas Eve so I managed to get the car onto the drive instead of having to trudge up to the main road where it had been left through the bad weather.
I am currently thinking about my new Year's resolutions - not sure if I will be brave enough to post them on here though :o

It's all right for some - mine is still here, and it was hailing tonight.

sorry to hear your news Wol, she was a very beautiful piggie. sending you hugs as squeaks from my two fur babies.

are you going to go to the dr's for some more patches if the one you used before christmas helped you? sounds like you could do with a little help, which isn't surprising given what's been thrown at you recently.

    Hi LT

Hope your two guineas are snuggled up warm during all this cold weather and enjoying extra Christmas treats. Piggie Palace is actually warmer than the house at the moment - I nearly kipped in there myself just before Christmas :rotfl:

....have to say these oestrogen thingies really are the biz.......I'm sure a lot of "depression" is hormonally based rather than neurotransmitter based and goes undiagnosed. I felt rough for 6 years until my pituitary problem was diagnosed with a simple blood test/hormone profile. Now, as long as I keep taking the tablets for it each week (which I haven;t for the last few months :o) then I'm fine.

Unfortunately the GP will not prescribe these patches to me - The combined patches (oestrogen and proegsterone) that they would prescribe gave me horrible skin rashes and (it's a long story :o) an impasse was reached so i stopped using any type of patch at all (but held onto my original stock ;))

I'm only using these patches for a couple of weeks until my pituitary medication cuts in which in itself should restore the oestrogen levels. If I want to carry on using the patches I shall need to go back to the GP and "re-negotiate" the terms and conditions ;)

So we'll save that battle for the New Year :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope Charlie "the meerkat" is feeling better hun

Charlie is still with us and more perky...:j....and may become famous :D- but not for the right reasons.:(

Vet removed over 20ml of milky fluid from his chest cavity (yuk - no wonder he couldn;t brather properly poor little fella) and suspects Charlie has a "chylothorax" (ie it means the fluid has come from the lymphatic system and is not the result of an infection). He's sent the fluid away for analysis and microbial culture (I am praying the vet is wrong about it being lymph instead of infection and that bugs will be found to explain what's going on with the rest of them).

Vet was quite animated - He's never heard of this condition in guinea pigs - only in cats and dogs - and he can;t find anything in the literature..so the procedure he performed today was a first for him personally (brave chap - he did well) and in fact Charlie may be a first ever recorded case :o

Charlie is breathing better, chomping lettuce and on a diuretic to prevent more fluid build up. Vet couldn;t remove it all and so therefore he can;t take a follow up x ray to determine the cause (could be trauma, mailgnancy, genetic or never known). Charlie may have to go back for another drain under anaesthetic if his breathing gets any worse. The condition recurs and surgery in a little piggie to resolve it is probably not possible (although I will ask Vulture vets tomorrow when I go there to pick up Whisp's body)

Unfortunately the initial results from Whisp's PM have found absoutely nothing abnormal.:confused:....and certainly no chylothorax in her. It will be a week before the microbial cutlures and histology results come back. So Charlie, bless him, appears to be just complicating matters further rather than helping resolve them

Anyhow, the good news is that he is breathing better - but obviously I will need to think carefully about his future long term as this is not curable and will keep on happening.
