Aww, I didn't realise you had a garden, Numpty - whats it like, what do you grow? Or do you just sit out? I managed a bit of a sit out after I'd been slaving today, it was lurvely.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hmmmm - very difficult day - first time with all the family since this time last year. I knew it would be tough but was a bit unprepared for how bad it would be. I really really didn;t want to be there
...however at least duty has been done
Left early, came home to do piggie meds and have spent the last 60mins having good cuddles with Beechie, Grommie and Willow.
Off to bed as emotionally exhausted and near to tears....some unpleasant stuff to process after today:(
Numpty has a garden in Sussex called the Monkey Garden :T:T......which contains Guinea Grove (with some lovely specimen shrubs) and also the newly laid guinea pig lawn
. You;ll see it at The Rave
Back tomoz...the really good thing is that I've coped today without resorting to a self-induced alcoholic fugue tonight ......:T

Well done on coping today especially without resorting to alcohol.I thought it would be hard.I'm very proud of you xxx0

Hi Wol - I'm glad you left early, duty only takes you so far - in fact, I think you might be going overboard on the duty bit - I get a bit duty-bound myself, and then I listen to my sister making boundaries in relation to our mum, and I realise I've been going too far. But anyway, you did well to leave early, and then not to go into the alcohol-fugue: its okay to have a cry, you know. And then sleep it off.
I didn't realise Numpty meant his adopted garden! Looking forward to seeing it - and if I suddenly move *before* the rave, I'll see it before then - once I move, I'm determined to do what I used to do in my 20s and 30s, I work during the week - hard - and the weekend is for days out. A rover ticket on the metrobus mid-Sussex system, and I'll be off all over the place
Erm, just realised how that might sound intrusive - its okay, I won't push my nose in *too* much:o:o

Hi All
Spent bank holiday monday zoned out with a book all day.......tuesday first thing back down the vets with Willow and to take another "piggie pack" in for Ginger.
Ginger bless him is still at the vets - his wound is starting to heal now and they are pleased with his progress. They have agreed to keep him longer owing to all the dust and dirt floating round my house at the moment. Results from Willow's culture should be in by tomorrow then we will know if it is a cyst or an abcess we are dealing with. Bandit went off his food (I suspect start of respiratory infection due to cold nights outside) but a couple of days of antibiotics and he is starting to perk up again - phew - caught it in time!!
Tuesday lunchtime went for hospital appointment and hoorah :T:T - finally i am getting the hormone stuff sorted (with a very nice consultant) and my GP can start prescribing me the oestrogen patches again. Have to go in for some tests etc in the near future (have to be sedated so will ask my builder to act as chaperone as he knows what to expect- when he did this a few years ago after I had an endscopy, I came out high as a kite and at one point ended up face down in the graveyard sniffing the vegetation on the way to the pizza place
)
Got back to find a house full of top totty :D- plasterer, plumber, carpenter and their young apprentices all in at once - and all under the age of 35 :drool::drool:- kept me very busy for the rest of the afternoon
Yesterday i went to London to meet a potential new (top notch!) client - and it looks like they want to avail themselves of my expertise - I am chuffed to bits :j:T
The kitchen is now back up and functional with LEVEL work surfaces and floor:eek::D (although needs an oven, silicone and paint job etc) so yesterday they moved on and trashed the utility room - including taking up all the concrete screed (very noisy and dusty). It;s now got sticky black stuff all over the floor (a new DPM) and will need a few coats prior to (rather a lot of) self levelling compound being put down to take account of the 10cm difference in level from one end to the other . Hopefully utility floor will be finished by end of the week - and that will mean we are then on the home run with just the decorating/painting to do :j
Surveyors report is lost in the post so another one being sent out today.
Spending the next four sunny days sorting out hanging backets and garden. Unfortunately I seem to have "picked poorly again" and am having problems with the new gardener who is completely unreliable (never turns up when he says he will and when he does turn up - at odd unexpected times - doesn;t seem to know what he is doing ). So far, all he's done is
a) laid a rather lumpy piggie lawn (another person who doesnt pay attention to levels:mad: - I questioned why he had no boards/string/spirit levels at the time and he just shrugged his shoulders),
b) cut down some old shrubs and
c) weeded a couple of beds (including pulling up all my cowslips and my agapanthus ).
I'm going to get him to finish the most important jobs (shrub stump removal, staking trees and lawn scarification) sufficient to account for the money I;ve already paid him and then take a decision on the rest of the work from there...I can;t have the lawns re-seeded now as it is too close to The Rave..(they were meant to be done a month ago). I am NOT going to get stressed about this ....Wol closes eyes and starts chanting
Right off to put some piggies into the runs on this glorious sunny day :j:j

It *is* a lovely day, isn't it, Wol - it sounds like things there are clearing a little - and how nice to have so much top totty around
Knowledgeable top totty, yet!
Sorting the hormone issues is going to help on so many levels, I'm sure - the way you feel, your energy levels, your application of your (many) abilities - thats going to be really important.
Enjoy the sunshine - I've got a client leaving just after 2pm, then I'll make a cup of half decaff coffee and join you :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Wol - I am very pleased to hear you managed to have a calm 'you' day on Monday. :j What a lot of good news you have what with hormone patches, new clients, piggies generally and all the house progress (and especially good news on all the totty;);)).
Not so good to the gardener, sounds like Numpty could have done you a better job. I am sure no-one at the rave will be the slightest bit interested in whether the lawn has been re-seeded, although I guess it delays the grass for the piggies.:(
My dog is unwell at the moment. She was bitten by a badger a couple of weeks ago and seemed fine after painkillers and a course of antibiotics, but now her foot has swollen up again and she cannot put weight on it. After a 3rd trip to the vet she in now on more antibiotics with the threat of general anasthetic and xrays if she is no better in a week. Although I am sort of hoping there is a chance of xraying without a GA if possible as don't really want to put her through that at 9years if I can help it.:(
Hope you have a lovely day in the garden with piggies and sunshine.:)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
