They say what goes around, comes around, Wol, and those who have hurt you will end up getting hurt in some way themselves. The fact that you will have moved on and not only survived but prospered will be sweet enough revenge.

Think that's a very positive way to look at it Wol as at the end of the day they have caused you so much stress/heartache that you cannot carry on with it eating away at you.Karma will intervene.

Definitely roll on the Rave ...can't wait....

Some good suggestions George - I will get the expert report through next week and can then decide what to do and whether or not I can pursue anyone to try and recover some of the costs. I would also like to consider trying to get some compensation for the last three years of anguish/turmoil/financial loss but that is always more difficult.

When my lawyers bollixed up the finances for the purchase of my French apartment, they not only admitted liability but sent me a pdf document from The Law Society about compensation - so they reimbursed me the extra interest I paid out *and* the same again for stress they'd caused me. It totalled only about £1100, nothing at all compared to what you've suffered these last years, but the principle is the same - they make a mess, they pay the expense you've had and they pay something for the stress you endured because of their bollix.

I envisage it will be a long time before the whole legal stuff runs its course and I am going to take the attitude that if I get any costs recovered/compensation via whatever means it will be a bonus What I am not going to do once this new build contract is finished is to shell out any more personal money pursuing this ref more building work, solicitors fees etc or stress about it and I will just have to live with all the rest of the wonky bits, accept that these people may never be brought to book for their actions, and hope that one day karma will intervene ........;)

The most important thing is the worst bits of my house are now being mended, and soon I will feel able to get back to a normal healthy life and hopefully then find a high powered job to earn enough money to re-stock the savings/pension pot that has been pillaged to date.

    Roll on The Rave :j:j

    xxxx
I didn't have this part of the problems you've got at all - in fact, *they* told *me* that they'd made a mistake, this struggle you've got to get them to see the reality of the situation is intense and incredibly stressful for you.

    Karma will sort it....

Glad the worst bits of the house are being sorted and Ginge is on the road to recovery. You've been through so much lately, make sure you take some time for yourself as well xxx

I too am glad that things are sorting themselves out..I was thinking about you the other day when I was watching a repeat of Extreme Makeover on one of the cable channels...I wonder if it is worth contacting Watchdog/Rogue Traders about Mr Bodget & Mr Scarper?

You're not a batty old bat either..you're a very grounded woman and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I echo what George has suggested about the surveyor, he must take some responsibility for being a lying and incompetent buffoon - make a complaint via RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors).

You would have laughed at me on Thursday - I was invited to a Circle Networking Ladies Lunch which turned out to be the biggest waste of £25 ever - with one main course, a splosh of wine and coffee. I am surprised that I managed to keep my cool and my sense of humour which was sorely tested. We had to stand and talk for 60 seconds about ourselves and our businesses but some yakked for 10 mins and others didnt yak for so long and after each yakking bit everybody clapped..it was so happy clappy that I was wondering when they would crack open the hymn books and burst into song. Then we had to listen to a speaker who was rubbish to say the least - needless to say I gave my feedback at the end.

I nipped into Selfridges on my way back to the bus - and did something crazy, I bought a jacket that had £141 knocked off its £200 price tag:eek:, I wandered to the Clarins Spa too and booked one of my facials (having bought 4 and got 2 free I thought I had better use one) and then I visited the hair dressing salon and booked to have my hair cut and coloured because I am sick of looking like an unmade bed! You should have seen their faces when I said that I had been lucky enough to have had my hair cut by Umberto Giannini whose name appears on products and hair salons (poor Umberto passed away in 2001 with a virus).

Yesterday I went to the biobank and was there for 3hrs answering questions and being tested. It was fun in part except for the blood pressure bit as I only need to see a white coat and my pressure goes rocketing skywards. Now I need to book to see the lovely Dr W because I was told that my bone density is borderline but for the most part despite being a bit portly (fat) I am relatively healthy - I could sit on the bike for 10 mins at a constant speed and keep up a conversation with the romanian sports scientist. I even had to give a deposit of spit, wee and blood. Their computers were a bit naff though as one of them didnt like the fact that my birth weight was 1lb 6oz, the glaucoma testing machine wouldn't work on my left eye either..sigh.

I am glad that Ginge is on the mend and keeping control of the remote - is he watching the nature programme on BBC1?

    Hi Horace

Ginger is clearly loving his new found freedom on the sofa all day with the remote.. He is now watching Lewis and has just sent me off to Tescos Express because he made it expressly clear that he fancied carrot as opposed to the freshly picked dandelion leaves I had provided .....sheeeesh......Boy guinea pigs:rotfl::rotfl:

Thankfully his wounds have now stopped bleeding (nightmare phone call to vet at 11pm last night )....and his liposuction and subsequent stay at the vets has reduced him to a very streamlined piggie shape (well, he WAS getting a tad chunky) :rotfl::rotfl:

Rogue Traders were interested in my story and rang me asking for a load of info and after I spent 4 hours one sunday last month preparing it, I heard zilch in return :mad:. I suspect they needed people who were still fighting with their builders and obviously I had already signed this settlement letter :(

Your recounting of the networking meeting had me in stitches - it's why I never go to those things anymore - down my way everyone is after your services for free and gives nothing in return.....

Seriously though H - when you;re down for the Rave, if you want to stay a few days extra and suss out some of the small luxury hotels as potential venues (of which we have three within spitting distance) then please let me know ;). We also have the most beautiful bluebell wood that stretches further than the eye can see, several stately homes/gardens that are breathtaking in the spring with all the rhododendrons and azaleas...and of course Pooh Sticks Bridge/Roos Sandy Pit/The North Pole/ etc etc. Not to mention of course Wol's gaf with top totty in attendance (now famous on the world wide web I believe:rotfl::rotfl:). 'Course in view of the pink direction you are taking, we also have Brighton just down the road ;)

Mmmmmm...spa, facial and massage - sounds great!!......think that;s next on my list as i need some R & R...also starting to think about booking a holiday for Feb next year as last time I was away was Feb 2008. I prefer to go somwehere hot during the worst of the English Winter as I [STRIKE]am[/STRIKE] have SAD :rotfl::rotfl:...and couldn;t ever justify the expense of a holiday during our glorious (roll eyes) English summer when I am doing my garden :D

Right time to feed the herd.....and see what His Ginger Nibs is up to

Glad you have got the thumbs up health wise from the biobank...(It's always nice to get an unsolicited second opinion .even if the PC's can;t cope :rotfl::rotfl:)
