Good luck to family member for op...there is no harm in optimism..some people recover when all hope is lost...fingers and everything crossed and prayers xxx0

Family member going in for big op tomoz...Medic brother has just "dampened my optimism",,,bless the little sod..but he is one of the leading pioneers in this field.....:o..
The trouble with being a pioneer is that you tend to see a disproportionate amount of failures.
I don't suppose Orville and Wilbur ever viewed flying as a particularly safe pasttime.Going to bed with all digits and paws crossed for a good result...personally I'm haiving a good weep

Family member replied this morning to my email sent yesterday, just before they went in for the op..
This evening the news is that they are now awake ..:j..and, it would appear, still high as a kite :rotfl::rotfl:
But we won;t know how successful or otherwise until "later". (whenever that is - personally I have no more fingernails left:o...maybe I need to start on my toes
- but then will need to learn yoga for that methinks ).
I shall, for now, ignore mum's ramblings about this being "something the hospital haven;t seen before" and "embedded in the muscle" as to date she hasn;t relayed any info correctly:eek:;).
I was still having to explain to her today that the tumour is Stage 1 NOT Stage 2/3 as she keeps saying... and that it is (only) the agression factor that is Stage 2/3(Not good but the most important thing here is the tumour IS only Stage 1 - in view of the high agression factor if the family member had a Stage 2/3 tumour as my mum keeps saying, the prognosis would be downright poor.... which could explain why my brother dished out the "6 months to live" speech to my mum a few weeks ago
)
So for now we wait

I had my psychotherapy sesssion tonight and she has agreed I have the option of another session on tuesdays if i need it (I ring her mondays to confirm). Wol crosses another objective off the list
This week has been a massive roller coaster - down saturday (although apparently a good reason to be down according to the psychotherapist)... up sunday... but then tuesday evening onwards was a slide down into complete despair by wed late night owing to "a series of unfortunate and destructive or unhelpful events". Yet when i relayed to my psychotherapist about my week,(well OK I did spend the whole of this morning in bed) -she says it is amazing that, despite everything that's happened for me this week, I am now back up and running again tonight.
The really important thing identifed tonight was the massive amount of really fantastic positive support I continue to have from all you guys - it's why even if things are feeling black like saturday -or last night - I am able to come back from the pit far more quickly than before and for instance, post like I did about my plans for February.
And, let's be clear, my increasing ability to pick myself up quickly and plough onwards is because of the wonderful unconditional support and posts from all of you all.:T .......
Thank you all so very much. :A:A:A
Will post progress against aims update tomorrow
(It's not looking as bad as i thought :rotfl:)

No, this is correct - they were talking about your mum though.and "embedded in the muscle"

I'm glad its all gone well, Wol - from the family member's op to the session today and your psychotherapist's reaction ... you *do* have good reasons for feeling bad, of course you do - good lord, just think of the past few months on their own, let alone more long term stuff.
Hope you sleep well after comparatively positive news today.
