Neighbour using my parking space

No I don't own the piece of road outside my house. What that has to do with anything I have written I really don't know?
It is still the same sort of scenario no matter who owns the land etc, it still would be easier to go speak to the person first.
Resorting to extreme measures as hiring a skip to block a car in just seems way over the top to me, especially when it probably could have been solved by having a quick chat.
As I said before, remember these people are your neighbours, and no doubt you will be living around them for a few years to come.
If someone is parking on a PUBLIC road outside your house, then what right do you have to ask them not to park there? I think that's what the post meant.0 -
If you read my posts I agreed with what people were saying about parking in other peoples spaces.
I just do not agree with the extreme measures that some people would instantly go to, to try and solve the problem.
As I said simply having a quick chat would have solved most peoples problems on here.
I know the rules about parking on public roads etc, but it is still the same sort of scenario as mentioned.
I don't want to get into a debate about any of this, but in my street it is accepted that people park outside their own houses, there are also parking bays and garages in the same street. The street is a closed street and is not a public road, so to speak.
So saying whether people own a bit of a public road has nothing to do with what I was saying as I said before.
If someone was so rude as to tell me where to go after having the quick chat, then I would have no problem with resorting to the more extreme measures. I would also not forget about the unpleasantness caused by that neighbour and would do everything to p*ss that neighbour off for the distant future.

None of that get's away from the basic fact that you have no rights to park outside your own house on a public highway.
To do that you need to buy a house with it's own off road parking, like the OP has done.0 -

As I have said twice now, what has that got to do with anything I have written?0 -
" Was solved by simply having a quick word with the people who were parking there, saying they were parking outside my house, would they park somewhere else, problem solved. "
As I have repeatedly stated you have no right to park outside your house, it is a public highway ".
Public means anyone and everyone has equal access to it, not just you.
As I have said before, if you asked me not to park in front of your house, I would tell you where to go.0 -

Where did I write anything about it being a public highway, or say that they couldn't park there if they wanted to? Answer, I didn't write it.
What I said was it is widely accepted that people in my street park outside their own houses, and having a quick word with a neighbour solved my problem.
You going on about what you would say to someone parking outside their house, and the highway code has nothing at all to do with what I was talking about.0 -
If it is a " Private Road " that you own and pay maintenence on, say so, because that put's things in a different light.0

If you read the paragraph you quoted "would they park somewhere else".
Not this is my parking space, you have got to park somewhere else.
As I said it is the same sort of scenario, not exactly the same, but similar.
Easily solved by talking to the neighbour.0 -

I am wasting my time, it is a completely different scenario.0
