maybe dragging up an old post here but I had the same problem despite our spaces being numbered. I only have one space, and coming home from work at 3am to have to park up and walk down a dark road started getting annoying. I put letters on the offending cars explaining private parking space and asking them to move. That worked for one of them. Then I started getting cars (different ones) parking behind me and blocking me in. The final straw came when I was late meeting my Dad and he asked why, I told him my car was blocked in. Moments later, one angry Dad appears. Car was removed and hasn't done it since ;-)
However some others carried on parking in the space. I made sure I had put at least 3 letters on, then I blocked them in, went inside and took the intercom off the hook for an hour. Cue one car owner going "well I didn't know it was your space!" I asked him if he lived there, he said no, and I directed him to the visitors car park. I've heard all the excuses in the book from some of these people but finally - 2 years later, I have a parking space free! The police can't do anything as the space is private property, but they did tell me if I was blocked in they could as the car that was blocking me in was on a public highway. They also said they could act as a go between and mediate. TBH, my Dad did a pretty good job of "mediating" :-)

Only because they know that by the time they'd get there:rolleyes:, your tax, mot insurance and probably your licence would have run out:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I live in a block of apartments and each one of us has our own private parking space, plus 2 permits. The spaces are not numbered but we were informed when we moved in which space belonged to us, and it is also displayed in our lease. The apartments were bought through a housing association on shared ownership.

We have lived here 2 years but for the past month since the last remaining flat was bought, the new neighbour has been in our space. We don't own a car but this space should be free for our guests to use. Also, my friend works nearby and I have always let her use our permit to park here during the week instead of paying for the public car park. She is now unable to because of these people.

I have left a number of polite notes in their letterbox asking them to move out of our space, but they have been ignored. In fact in a whole month the car hasn't moved once to my knowledge, and I haven't even seen who lives there (they are definitely home though as I can hear them when I walk past).

Does anybody know what my rights are here? I know some of you will suggest knocking on their door and sorting it out in person, but I am anxious about doing this due to the fact they are already ignoring my notes. I’m not the most confrontational person either, and get nervous in those types of situations. My partner is good at talking to people but he refuses to speak to them, as whilst we don’t have a car of our own, he “doesn’t care”.
may I suggest an early morning walk with some paint stripper past the offending car? might work wonders.

well they don't tend to venture into my area without body armour and riot vans anyway, and certainly not alone :rotfl:

Lol, thats about right - i'm the same when it comes to my daughters - we have a nice way of sorting things out, usually starts with a polite 'got a problem' followed by 'want to take it further' and ending with 'ooops. my hand slipped and like a magnet ended up round his throat'...... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Maybe they are too busy clamping.

me and Mum did actually go in the flat and hide. Dad never shouts but I could hear him through the double glazing. Then heard the screech of tyres, next thing he says "you can move your car now" :rotfl:
  • He never parks there anymore and yea, the skip for the month plus £20 tip cos me the best part of £400 - boy was it worth it cos now my space remains empty
Surely you could have had lockable bollards installed on all 3 of your spaces, which might have added value to your house and given you change out of £400!

You had no right to even ask them.

Not really true, you are free to ask them anything you like.

But they are also free to tell you where to poke it and ignore you.

Hmmm, I never even thought of that - nice one :T

I rent one space out now to a neighbour (£30p/m) so that may even pay for it for me! Thanks, I honestly never even thought of that!
