A couple of questions for the OP.
How does anyone in your box of flats know which parking space belongs to them if there are no numbers? I feel that the landlord is at fault for not painting numbers in them, or for providing a simple unambiguous plan, so that no mistakes can be made.
I suggest that you try to speak to your neighbours face to face, not simply slipping notes through their door.
Have you ever spoken to the neighbours about anything?
Far too many problems in this World are caused by people not talking, about resentment building up, and then arguments starting.
As for taking a big bloke, who may have more "bottle" than your other half, what is this going to achieve?
Your neighbours may feel that they are in the right.

I think thats what I said, TWICE, the op chooses to ignore tho' , hence the big bloke/weedy other half thing.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Ha, believe me, the police won't be the slightest bit interested. I used to live in a subdivided house with a shared carpark. There was an untaxed car there regularly which I reported but was told that as it was on private property (this was just before SORN came in) there was nothing they could do about it, even though it didn't have a registered keeper. I pointed out that it certainly was being driven as it would disappear from time to time, then come back - what better vehicle to use in burglaries than an unregistered car, its untraceable, but they still wouldn't do anything about it. I thought prevention of crime was supposed to be important :(
  • Yep - communication is the key here. Don't be scared to pop round and just enquire. State that you believe the space belongs to you. Ask them if they have a designated space. I would exercise how you want your friend to park their during the day, and people on weekends, though at the moment (as you don't have a car) they *could* be free to use it on a night time perhaps?

That way you're telling them what you want, and giving them an option - a generous compromise that you don't even have to.

All this pre-empting trouble, and problems - it's no good. If you start sending notes out, asking the police, the neighbours will just think you're stuck up complainers (that's putting it nicely). Deal with it in person. Indeed if they are rude / aggressive and all the rest, then fair play deal with it through a more official term - or take a big bloke around. The last thing I would recommend though is falling out with neighbours. What's to stop them vandalising any cars that are parked there out of spite?

Seriously - pop round, knock on the door. ASK them about the parking, state you BELIEVE that the space belongs to YOU. You NEED it on XYZ of the time, and in the meantime they MAY make us of it at other times - though if friends are visiting they WILL have to move it. That's how I would approach it.

I agree it would be a lot easier if you managed to speak to your neighbours about the car first.

There may be a simple explanation, space being mixed up, space allocated twice etc.

Remember these people are your neighbours after all, so if you are going to be living in that place for a while and you will see those same neighbours all the time.

It would be better to start off on a good footing, rather than to cause ill feeling due to something that could be sorted out easily.

Yes and why is your friend using it the space is for you onlt not your friend giving a permit to a friend could violate terms and conditions it dose in my mates block of flats people have done that and there friends car has got clamped and your friend is not paying any service charges so why use the carpark not paying for any upkeep

If you have a permit for the space and it is your space (I presume it's paid for) then you should be able to do whatever you like with it and that includes loaning it to a friend.

Just to go off on a slight tangent I have a related problem. Its not neighbours using our parking spaces, its commuters and the like who park.

Who sells really strong stickers that we can put on the windscreens saying "residents only" or similar?

What are you on about? It's the OP's parking space - she owns it. She can use it for whatever she likes.

    I agree

Whilst reading through this thread I have been disappointed to see so many people not realising that the OP owns and pays a service charge for the space so she should be entitled to do whatever the hell she wants with it
