Im sure the police would class this as a neighbourhood dispute. They may advise to go to the management company who maintains the flats. TBH I think this is may be a civil dispute .. But dont quote me on that

    .

she doesent own it tho its owned by the h/a or council and is provided on the basis that she has a car she doesent

Read the OP again, she does " own " the parking space.

Yours is a silly argument - I have a spare room that I don't use very often but I'd be pretty p!ssed if I found someone sleeping in there!
  • We have a similar problem to the one that you are experiencing.

Our house has a space in the same way as yours, And we too like you do not own a car yet, and it will be a few months before we do.The problem we have found is a house 6 doors down have a caravan which they have been parking in our space since before we lived here, we used to live next door to them and never had a good relationship.

Now we have moved a few spaces down and have subsequently found that they are using our space for caravan storage. We have approached the council to see if we have any rights for them to move it, as they gave us no response when we posted a letter through. We actually just wanted to give them a few months notice we would need our space, Giving them time to get the caravan moved.

    Anybody got any advice?

No point in contacting the police, its a civil matter, they wont get involved unless of course the OP puts the windscreen in lol
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • This happened to me with people using my space when they were going to the local pub.

Police told me it wasnt their responsibility until I said well if thats the case then I am going to block the car in with my car. That got them round and a lecture from them about not provoking violence when the cars owner came back.

In their credit they found out whose car it was then dragged them from the pub to move it.

I have moved from there long ago but I was going to get cival penalty notices then get the next person to park there with the intention of hopefully stopping folk from doing it.

Second time it happened was my neighbour, knocked at his door told him he had 10 mins to move it otherwise I was parking in front of him and would be working from home the next day so he wouldnt be going anywhere. That solved that problem pretty quickly!

Contact the management company and get them to enforce the lease. Tell them that you have sent letters to the offender and enclose copies. Pester them.

Nickwarren, you have given them notice of when you need the space for. Now send them a letter telling them the date that the caravan will be removed if it has not already been moved from your property. You bought that space when you bought the house, it's no different from a garage in that respect. Keep copies. Then hire someone to remove it from your space or do it yourself. Where it ends up is not your problem.

Do as others have said. BUT, the weak point here seems to be your partner who "doesn't care".

Maybe you need a new one with a bit of bottle? ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

The fact that the OP does not have a car is irrelevant. If at some time in the future they get one the habit her neighbour has of parking his car will be harder to break, but even now she does use it, she gives the place to her friend.
I had a similar problem in the past and the police did get involved but it was because the car had no road tax.
