Hi I am new to the site.
My Virgin contract is up for renewal at present i am paying £38 month for 3 services which are
TV = Size L
BB = Size L
Phone Size M
As we never use the phone but it comes with the bundle
All i am after is to jump up the tv to XL
What is the best way to go forward and get this have never dealt with Virgin before so am new to all this, any ideas and help is most appreciated.
Cheers

It raises an interesting question - has any one here ever got their new offer given in writing? Either automatically, or by asking for it?
I've never heard of it happening and wonder if VM would ever do it. They'd probably say no, or yes, but not do it. This is the point where someone proves me wrong.:o
I had them email my offer to me having twice had verbal offers cancelled without warning.0 -

Unfortunately the only real option is to go through to disconnections/retentions and try haggling for something better. I'm not sure what the current best offers are, but my deal currently offers £20 discount (apparently!). Might be able to push for more but I'm not sure I truly want to go through the hastle of having a new phone line and sky dish installed (even though I know it would be a couple of quid a month cheaper). You really have to be prepared to ge the whole lot taken away to get a reasonable deal.0 -
Ok my current package..
TV L = £11.50
Broadband M = £18.00
Phone line rental = £11.00
Talk unlimited = £7.95
Talk Mobile = £1.50
Additional set top box = £9.50
Grand Total = £59.45 including VAT
Now after numerous calls to retentions (best i have been offered in the last 2 months was a £8.00 reduction!) am at the end of my tether and am a hard bargainer also so i have been expecting more....... Anyway i am out of contract so i am going to cancel then renew for this offer
Phone L
TV XL
BB L
V+ x 2
£42.95 for 3 months and then £54.45 for 9 months
the main reason i have wanted to change my services is that i want to go V+ and have a better TV package in general. It seems to me that i would be silly too not cancel and take this offer but my question is if i ring and cancel today i have to give 30 days notice ...right? so after 30 days they will come and take all my gear away...? then the next day i will ring up and start a new contract to begin a month later...?
hope this doesnt seem to confusing to answer
any help appreciated
Terry
Some time ago I called up their normal sales line and said I wanted to disconnect and then reconnect so I would be eligible for one of their new customer deals, and the guy on the other end just said 'no point in going through all that trouble, I can put you on the new deal now'. I don't know if this is still possible though. Might be worth a try if you are happy with the new customer deal.0 -
Had the VIP package for 12 months whilst working for a retail partner. This is no longer the case and just received a letter stating that the discount is to be removed from my account, so after reading this forum decided to have a bash at negotiating a deal. After speaking to 3 different advisors this is the best i have been offered.
M phone - (inc weekend calls)
L Broadband (10mb)
XL TV
V+
Extra Set Top Box
£46 pm
To get it at that price i was also told that i would have to pay £50 for the V+ box as well, as this wasn't charged when i was initially put on the VIP package
I ideally want to keep Sky Sports as well but was told that it was £19 regardless. Told them i would think about it. Others on this board seem to have been offered similar deals for around £41, and that includes L phone!
Do you think i can get them down any further, as they are telling me thats the best they can do?.....0 -

Answered my own question......and yes i can :T
Got the above down to £60pm, and i can take Sports off whenever i want without it affecting my deal, so £41pm without Sports. Took 5 calls mind, and told the last advisor that i was giving 30 days notice unless it came down to £60 to which she agreed. Thanks to everyone on this board who gave me something to benchmark against, and to everyone else who wants to haggle down their costs......keep trying until you are happy0 -

Pretty good that....I found the best way to work out comparisons as to whether i had got the best deal was to take into the fact that sports and movies cannot be discounted at all, so if you take £26 off for sports and movies, and £19 for sports alone it gives you a good comparison.
I have the same package as you, but with an extra stb minus movies and got it for £60. If i take off my sports then it comes in at £41 inc the extra stb which is worth £5pm. Taking that away comes in at £36pm, opposed to your £38pm so there is a couple of quid in it.
I read these boards, and knew that given a bit of time i could get the deal i wanted. I worked out that i didnt want to pay more than £60pm for everything i wanted and was quite prepared to move if i wasnt offered it. I would go back and try and get at least another couple of quid off it, and explain in a nice way that you have this figure and you dont want to go over it - but be prepared to give your 30 days notice. I did and it worked a treat:T0 -
After 3 phone calls I got
Talk unlimited with call bar and caller display
Tv XL
V+ box
Sports
BB L
For the price of £62. That seems to be about the norm doesnt it?0
