I have been on the Virgin 3 for £30 for the last 12 months (landline, L TV and 2mbs BB).

I was looking to see what deals I could get for this and when I looked on their website the price had gone up but they no longer did the 2mbs BB.

When I phoned them they offered me the same package for £30/month with the 10mbs BB (which is the L package I think).

Does this sound like a good deal?

I think I will take it. Just thought I would share with you all!

    Hello all

    Captain...sounds like a good deal
    ..
crowning glory...i think the price is hiked up because of the addition of the sports ...but i think you could shave a few pounds but it all depends on the deals they have available to them...they had better offers in jan than feb...so just keep trying...
  • Hi All!

Had my bill through for this coming month. I was on the £29.00/month deal they had going for phone/2meg broadband/no TV (we don't have one). I was getting an £8 phone and bb discount and an additional £5.50 phone and bb discount bringing the price down to £15.50. Pretty competitive and this was for life I was TOLD. But NO, this month the £5.50 discount is gone  and they also took back the discount from last month another £5.50:mad: . Total bill this month £26.50!

Called 150 and was told by a representative £5.50 saving is ended, and was billed early last month so computer had taked last months saving off early. No deals apart from the minimum 10meg and phone for £19.95

Called 150 again and went straight to retentions. Still no budging on the 10 meg for £19.95 deal. Anyone got a cheaper deal than this recently? I dont need 10 meg, 2 meg did me just fine!!

Retentions guy did make a point of getting my mobile number, is a call back deal possible? Are they doing this?

Muchos greatful for any replies from you all!:j

    Have a great evening.

I am not sure that they do phone you back? Did you cancel through the "thinking of leaving" option on the phone or normal customer services? If the former, they normally negotiate a better deal before accepting your cancellation.

    Wotcha Anon.

I phoned CS first, then went to retentions. Retentions stated that they'd not be able to offer me a better deal, as what I receive currently is "the best" that they can offer..pah!:)

Does anyone on here claim to be knowledgable enough about Virgin deals to give me a 'target price' for my existing package when haggling? All I want to know is what I 'should' be paying, but every time I have posted my request it has just been superceded by someone else's request.

Infact would this be possible - given that there are about 10 'what should I be paying?' posts for every one answer, is anyone knowledgable enough to set up a guide as a separate part of MSE, then we could just direct everyone there? Then it could deal with all types of packages, including unusual ones like mine (where I have 3 boxes).

    So:
    1. Is anyone prepared to take a stab at advising a 'target price' on the package I've posted several times?
    2. Is anyone prepared to deal with it via a Private Message (in which case please PM me)?
    3. Is anyone prepared to volunteer to create a separate general pricing guide and ask Martin to add it outside the forum? We could all help to keep it up to date using a dedicated thread here.

My Skills at haggling are Poor!!
I phoned Virgin up, Stating I was going to leave, so I Got talk unlimited taken off, but still have cheap calls at night and week-ends.
He also reduced my bill by £10, So that's Nearly £18 , Still pay £5, Because I choose not to use direct debit!!

Silly of me, He then asked me to to agree to another 12months contract!!
so there's nothing I can do atm.
He did say if I reduced back to 2mbs. In April all customers would be going up from 2mbs to 10, anyway, with no price change.
I should of Done that, looking back now!!

I'm saving to Buy, a new laptop, Something thats pretty good For around £500ish? So I would need a router, Plus I'm wondering what I need to rig my PC up for a connection to the router has its going in the next room.
Its crazy virgin want £40 call out charges to fix the router, and for there HD box, its £99, connection/call out fee plus an extra 5 a month.

Is HD Worth waiting for?, I got an HD TV, just not seen any HD film, to see the Difference?

    thanks

Had the call today, I held on. I'm getting:

    XL TV
    10MB BB
    V+
    Second Box
    XL phone

£49 a month inc. VAT and supposedly they're knocking the £5 non DD charge off also! Happy days.

Thank you to all who gave advice and kind words.

Is that a good price for that package please? Has anyone achieved any better for XL TV, L BB, XL Phone, V+ and 2nd set top box?

How does this compare to BT/Sky?

    Many thanks

I thought it was a very good price tbh. I didn't pay for the install of the V+ nor for the box itself previously when I originally got it. I was originally paying about £64inc the non DD charge, so £15 off a month does me fine:)
