Just called 08000 529403 and asked to cancel my account. Was paying £25.00 for 4MB broadband, £24.99 for Talk Unlimited 24 plus £2.75 for 5 for 2 Select Services. Total £52.74. I stated that I was going to TalkTalk which would cost £19.99 (doesn't include any select services and wasn't available to me anyway - I would have had to pay an extra £10 per month for broadband) and have now been given broadband half price for 6 months and Talk Unlimited 24 plus the select services for £7.50 per month, giving a saving of £30 per month.
The operator did say that as he is human, errors may occur, so if the bill arrives saying any differently to call and they will rectify it.
He mentioned that the six-month deal was because new broadband offers will be coming out in 6 months so we can review the situation then.0 -
Not good news.
I called NTL and told them I was switching from their Broadband (£18month 1meg) and Phone (£12.75month), to Talk-Talk.
The operator didnot ask me why, or offer any incentives, but gave me a MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) that I will need to enable me to Cancel & Transfer braodband overto TalkTalk.
So I have! I have just contacted TALK-TALK and signed up!!!
Are NTL getting wise to the great service of this site?

I have just contacted TALK-TALK and signed up!!!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Just got off the phone to NTL and I am delighted to have just halved my outgoings with immediate affect.
I was paying £24.99 for unlimited calls 24/7 (inc line rental) and £24.99 for my 4 meg Broadband. No contract and no time limit at £24.99 with the option of taking another offer at any time
I had just rung BT to ask about their charges etc and was offered unlimited calls 24/7 and "Upto 8meg" Broadband all for £30 for the first 6 months then £37.99 for the next 9 months.
I know I could have tried it on for a bit more, but im not too near my exchange and cant get Talk talk and the max my broadband would manage is 2 meg. So I'm certainly very happy thanks to MSE0 -
Rang telewest and asked about cancelling my broadband, digital tv and phone package as I was thinking about moving to Talk Talk, BT & Freeview, At first the customer adviser offered me talk 400 for £17.00 a month, told her that i only spend about £20 on calls a month so didnt think it was a good deal, then she offered me the package i have, broadband 4mb, Supreme TV and phone for £45 for the next 6 months instead of the £57.50 a month im paying.... still not convinced so im asking about paying by Direct debit (should save me £4 a month) then if i go for talk 400 its £20 a month, including £11 line rental, so take the line rental and the D D fee off the £45 and add the £20 for Talk 400 and Im hoping to get it all and pay about £50 a month for 3 months then £58 for a further 3 months, and I will ring again :rotfl: will let ya know how i get on0

Have called and cancelled my digital TV package with ntl today - Sky Digital has been ordered to replace it (ntl doesn't work with media center properly, sky does!).
Asked if they could match Talk Talk on the phone and broadband as it'd work out over £16 a month cheaper on TalkTalk. Best deal she could offer me was half price broadband for 3 months which only saves just over £30 in all.
She also said TalkTalk were being investigated by Ofcom so ntl were reluctant to price match them until the outcome of that had been decided. However I can't find anything about it on the Ofcom site so I think she may have been creative with the truth?
Will have to try again I think!0 -

Supreme Tv, 4mb Broadband, Talk400 all for £50 a month, probably gonna be saving myself about £40 a month0 -
It's been a very long day, and my head's spinning.
I follow all this getting a decent deal, but I'm still struggling to find somewhere that offers unlimited calls when Telewest provide my phoneline.
Their own requires redialling every 60 minutes
All the others I can find are BT only.
Anyone care to point out the obvious I'm missing?
Thanks in advance

Are you searching for a new broadband/landline provider?
Well, so was I at the time...and let this be a warning for you...
Talktalk is the worst, most difficult and incompetent company I have dealt so far!!
I am (was) with TalkTalk for over a year now. First I started off with my landline which was fine apart from the 40 min wait every time I had an account query.
Then the real problems started...one day my line was disconnected and after being on hold for over 30 min, I finally spoke to lady which didnt seem to understand english at all. After reapeating my account details at least 3 times she was finally willing to listen to my problem. (That was 3 months ago....) I asked why my landline doesnt work and she said that BT has requested for my landline to be closed!!!!!!!!! *argggggggggggg*
Well, I was about to flip (considering I have been transfered alredy 3 times by then) which I didnt. I explained that I have NEVER requested for this and that I want my landline back....
Hmmm, about 15 calls later (honestly!!) and each time a waiting time of at least 20 min I have still not got my landline back and have now switched.
So much to my landline...
Now, I also had broadband with them which worked for a week in total, after waiting 2 months for it to be connected. So again...I was on the phone to a bunch of iccompatible, very limited english speaking and ignorant TalkTalk operators.
Many moons have passed and I have finally managed to cancel my broadband with them. They first didnt want to cancel it since I was apparently on an 18months contract...ha, ha, ha! I mean I would have been happy to continue but not if its not working at all...
So now I have cancelled it but am still waiting for my broadband refund!!!! I am on the phone to them right now actually. Tody I have been transfered 6 times!!!!!!!! Lets see if this gentlemen will be able to give me my money back.
So bottom line is:
Get TalkTalk if you dont have anything bette to do with your time then spending on the phone listening to the same song over and over again, if you want to waste your money and if you want to loose your nerves!!!!!
Keep looking guys!!!0 -
just rang on behalf of mum n dad, saved them £8.50 per month for next 12 months, no tie ins :beer:0
