Hello all - I have just been thorugh this entire thread and am still a little mystified  .

    I have
    Tw 4mbb for £25 pm
    and phone line £11 pm.
    Sky 6-mix for £21 pm

I want to move to a higher BB rate for less cost.

Has anybody had luck with gettin 10mb bb from telewest at a reduced rate?

And how about a discount on the phone?
  • I've been with Telewest for ages for TV, phone and broadband, currently £42 a month plus calls. Just phoned Telewest (Customer Relations) to say I was thinking of switching because I could get better elsewhere and he immediately offered me £9.99/m broadband (down from £17.99) for 6months, and half price TV and line rental for 3months. This saves me £21/m for the next 3 months. I'd call £60 for a 5min call good earnings! (Well, I'm public sector...)

So I'd encourage Telewest users to do the same. He offered this with no haggling and sounded almost weary about it: This sounds v different from earlier postings on this site so perhaps Tw are starting to feel the pressure!

Now this is only a 3month deal for me, but he said Tw are going to bring out a load of new offers in Jan that will be available to existing customers. So my 3month deal gets me to Jan when I can either get a better longterm deal with Tw, switch elsewhere, or switch in the meantime if I find something better.

    Give it a go!
  •  :j i contacted ntl to review my offer, which has now reached its 6 mth deadline.

i have retained 4mb BB, line rental and family pack(all for £35) asked girl to throw in free movies for over christmas and she did!! (3 mths free)
    no hassle, really nice lady.:j
  • same as smile and run, i had been with Telewest for ages now having 4meg broadband and phone line, in all cost about £47 pm with calls.

I told them that I wanted to drop the phone line to go VOIP, and he firstly gave me a disconnection date, he then (when he realised i was serious) rattled off some offers, some of which were not acceptable (e.g. going down to 2 meg broadband)

Eventually got my deal reduced to £22pm plus calls for 3 months, £27 per month thereafter which i thought was a brilliant result.
  • Been with Telewest for ages, but phoned today and said I was wanting to cancel my telephone and broadband because I can get a better deal with Talk-Talk and BT. After a 10 minute dialogue about the benefits of staying with Telewest and discrediting of Talk-Talk, I was offered the following monthly deal for 3 months:
Telephone line rental from £11 to £10.50
Supreme TV package from £17.50 to £8.75
Call wait from £1.75 to free
    Broadband 4Mb from £25 to £12.50

A monthly saving of £23.30 and we manily use a VOIP (Internet) phone for calls and so my call charges with Telewest are neglibable e.g. £1.94 last bill.

Worth the call and the operator suggested I call back towards the end of the 3 months to see what other deals they could offer then.
  • hi everyone

Just thought i would post the success and how i did with you.

I rang ntl and went through to a operator then was offered minor discounts that wasnt worth bothering to take so told them that is not enough of a discount to keep me as a customer.

They then put me through to customer services that offered me half of what i was paying to be renewed every three months ( which i got them to write on screen so i can ring and check in feb)

    I currently have

talk 24/7 - broadband internet at 2 mb and family base pack + all sky movies channels I was paying 94 pounds per month, I am now due to start paying 48 per month.

I am well happy and look forward to a happy new year!

    take care

    Wow!
Just phoned telewest and spoke to someone who was really unhelpful and said they couldn't do anything for me but then put me through to 'customer relations' who was a lovely man called ben!
He immediately told me that of course they could make me an offer -
    Phone to 15.50 from 16.50
BBand to 9.99 from 17.99 - he then came back and told me he could do it for 8.99!
TV upgrade to essential tv for 0.25 more, or keep the same and only pay 2.75 not the 5.50 as before!
    Sooo happy!
Especially as I had rung them in the past and they were awful!
TW are merging with some other company in Feb. too so there will be some good, more permanent deals coming out then! (Mine are on until end of Feb!)
    Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Thought it was worth registering here to pass this on.

Called NTL retention dept this morning, to gaet a better price and came away rather pleased.

Currenty I am paying £11 line rental, £2 for the free evening and weekend calls& 17.99 for the 2mb broadband. I was getting a £5.50 discount on that so the total was: £25.49.

I was initially offered half price line rental (£5.50) on the 3 (weekday), 2 (evening), free (weekend) tarrif , and broadband for £9.99, totalling £15.49.

I asked if that was the best he could do, he came back that he could combine it with a value package. Not sure how he got there, but I now have phone and 2mb broadband for £11.49 for six months.

  • Hi,

Ive only got 24/7 and the 11.50 standard phone line , plus they gave me a £1.00 credit every month for paying my bill in the bank. So my avarage bill is around £30.00 just wondering is is worth trying to get any other deal.

    Cheers:confused:
