I've just spoken to NTL, said I was going over to Homechoice and was offered £11 for phone line, this includes 40 free digital channels and free eve and w/end calls, + £9.99 for 2mb broadband a total of £21 per month. I'm pleased with this at the moment but I'll be keeping an eye open for any other 'sticks' to beat them with !0

I knew I should have checked here first! :-(
"Upgraded" 11/8/06 to 3 for £30. Includes free weekend calls.
Checked my bill; still being charged for weekends PLUS (.40 for TV, £11 for phone and £17.99 for 1mb BB.
Rang 0800 052 9403 at Coventry (which is soon to close and move the workload to Sheffield) and complained about the bill, saying I was thinking of switching to TalkTalk and Freeview.
I got the ramble about the tie-ins for TT, but the nice lady gave me Family Pack, Talk24 and 4 mb BB for £28.99 for 3 months.
Just off to put it in my diary...............0 -
Rang NTL (08000529403) asked to cancel my contract. Response was OK that will be done from 30 days time. Anyone any ideas for salvaging a deal? Or just ring back in a week and cancel the cancelation.
Thanks from a gutted Mick0 -
Oh, dear!
Perhaps that operator is a MS as well! That number rings through to Coventry which is about to close BTW.
Worth trying again, though.0 -
Another one!
Just off the phone from telewest (after holding for 15 mins.... and 15 minute conversation). I'd already got my broadband reduced a few months ago from £17.99 to £9.99 a month when i called mentioning talk talk. Currently pay £11.00 line rental, £1.75 for caller ID, and any 0845/70 calls (when i can't find landline number, of course!).
Said they couldn't do anything on broadband as that is the cheapest they an do, but offered me half price line rental, and free caller ID, so saving £7.25 a month, which is fine by me!0 -
Hey,
When you phone telewest, is it best to talk to customer services or the leaving department?
I tried yesterday (can't remember which one I rang) and all they would offer me was half price line rental, which didn't even take my package below £40 a month!
Is there a better day to ring to get good deals?

I phoned 2 months ago and was offered half price internet and tv for 3 months and half price telephone for 3 months thereafter, the first two months (august & september) was shown as goodwill credit in Septembers bill then this month( which should be my third) the bill was back to 72.00 again. I phoned customer service and the guy said that there was no notes on my file and the only way to reduce my bill was to reduce my services.
He was extrememly unhelpful and said there was no proof as to what I was "claiming" I was offered. and I have to phone customer retention tomorrow. I am really angry  as i actually did want to cancel my tv and reduce internet when i phoned and feel I kept them under false pretences. For years I have paid my bill and not complained but am now worried when I phone tomorrow taht I will not get anymore discount. Any advice on phone tips would be appreicated.0 -
Just made the call to NTL to say their £42.07 is too much for Line Rental, Broadband and TV package (It is; until recently it was about £30.00 then the special offer I had last time expired). I mentioned Talk Talk, as suggested, and that I was considering switching to them. Without any hesitation they reduced my monthly bill by £11.00 per month indefinitely as long as I keep the three services. Having got this far, I asked if they could also throw in Caller Display for free also. Unfortunately they declined, but I am still happy with the result. Thank you Martin's Money!0

I have had talk24 for 6 months now with NTL and every single month without fail I have to call them up to get them to refund call charges. I know others have had this problem. Has anyone found out why it happens because its obviously some system prob with ntl. They have reported it to tech dept but nothing changes every month I have to keep on calling them and some of the staff are not happy to refundThanx

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has had any good deals with 2 phonelines?
I do have bb half price 6 months (well should do if it actually goes on the account)
And half price family pack for 6 months (might swap to free tv)
The phone is full price £11 each £22 for both lines and talk24 that should have been put at £2.50 which wasnt and I've been charged the full £14
I really wanted to try get a good deal on the phone do you think I might be likely to get the lines at half price £5.50 each like some are getting on 1 line plus a discount for talk 24? Some of the staff say you cannot have more than 1 offer on your NTL accounts and because at the moment I have the usual £8.75
If they dont give me a discount for the phonelines nothing is keeping me staying with them now for both lines. I was thinking of swapping the main phoneline over to bt instead and using 1899 with it and maybe getting free broadband with sky once it settles and hopefully becomes reliable as I have SKY tv downstairs. I would then keep 1 phoneline with NTL and have the free tv upstairsThanx
