    So bottom line is:

Get TalkTalk if you dont have anything bette to do with your time then spending on the phone listening to the same song over and over again, if you want to waste your money and if you want to loose your nerves!!!!!

    Keep looking guys!!!

We dont really want talk talk (gotta admit the woman on the phone, was doing her best to disuade me from going to talk talk) , just bluff telewest into thinking we did and got the discounts.....

Spoke to a very nice telewest lady who has given me a discount for the next 3 months and changed the base price of my package, so now paying £25 for the next 3 months!!!

I told her I had been looking at TalkTalk and Sky and thought that Sky was a better option for me.

I am over to Plusnet from tomorrow. I have had BB £14.49 8mb already but now will have £15 per month includes line rental and free calls anytime (exludes mob, 0845 and 0870) and only 1 month contract limit. Thats good fer me!
Currently 4 me its Rogers Contract cell phone, REBTEL.COM is the best mobile making and receiving calls to/from UK and Canada:beer:
  • Currently have 3 services with Telewest - Phone, 2MB Broadband and TV (Supreme package), paying £46.45 a month.

Wanted to reduce the cost if possible, but like having specialist music channels - MTV2, Kerrang, VH2 etc, which don't get on lower channel packages.

Telewest now do 'Free TV' package as long as you have phone with them, so planned to move (reluctantly) to this, saving 17.50 a month compared to Supreme TV Package.

Rang Telewest, asked to change TV Package.

Offered to give me same package as at present for 40 a month, for next 12 months - no contract etc, can change at any time.

Happy with this as an offer, saves me 77 quid over the year - not great but not bad for a 2 min phone call.

PS - Believe their 2MB broadband is changing to 4MB for same price (17.99) in next few months.

    Matt
  • PPS - Remember Telewest's broadband actually IS what they state i.e. 2MB, 4MB etc. Unlike Talk Talk and the others which are 'up to' 8MB, but seldom reaches higher than 2MB.
  • I've already posted this here..

But thought it was relevant to this thread too..
Just registered, this post inspired me to call Telewest a month or so ago.

I was then on the standard tv package, 2mb BB, line rental + non DD extra charge + calls, total around £50 pm.

After the first call I was put on the £30 a month package + £4 non DD +Calls.

This worked out a net saving of around 6 or 7 quid.

Trouble was talk talk or sky BB wasn't available on my postcode at that time, they knew that hence no great deal.

Anyway, I usually pay bill when I get the reminder letter via debit card due to them messing up my DD a while back, I strongly object to the £4 non DD charge, the final straw was an ebill email saying that no more reminders would be issued and that a £10 charge would be put on my account if I didn't pay by the due date.

So I rang BT and put an order in to return, after checking Talk talk site it was now available in my postcode.

48 hrs later Telewest are on the phone.

What they offered me to cancel BT, basically to match the talk talk deal.

£21pm total to include... 2mb unlimited BB, starter TV package, line rental + all uk landline calls + non DD charge now £1 as BT.

So I'm staying put for now.

A friend told me she tried to cancel to reduce her outgoings after redundancy(she was genuinly leaving), tells me she has the starter TV + 2mb BB are now free, just pays line rental and calls.
  • Just rang NTL as I was paying £11 for phone and £17.99 for 2mb broadband.
Told them I was thinking about moving to Talk Talk. They immediately gave me phone for £7 per month for life and 2mb broadband for £9.99 for 6 months. They also said I could renew the broadband discount every 6 months.
That means only £16.99 for phone and broadband!
    Result!!! :money: :j :j
  • I'd done a deal back in February with NTL for 2MB broadband and a free telephone line - just pay for the calls - I hardly ever use my landline as I have a mobile with free minutes.

They called me today to discuss and unpaid Direct Debit - I'd cancelled it on my internet baking site beacsue it was for the phone.

I checked and my Broadband had suddenly jumped to £24.99 a month - I'd never recievd one e-bill from them.

So I got all the info asked to be put through to retentions and said I was going to Talk Talk.

They warned me about the delay in connection and I told them I didn't care.

    Then suddenly -

NTL: We'll refund all the overcharges...

    ME: (NOTHING)

NTL: and we'll give you 10 MB broadband and our Talk 24 package (free calls 24 hours 7 days a week to all local and national landlines) if you stay.

    Me: How much is that?

    NTL: 12.49?

    Me: £12.49

    NTL: £9.99

Me: Well... allright then, I'll stay.

THANK YOU MARTIN... YOU ARE THE MONEY SAVING EXPERT.
