Shirazette wrote:Thanks so much for that MumofThree. I've done done exactly what you said, and although I didn't get quite as good a deal as you, I got the same thing for £23 per month. :T My broadband was upgraded during the phone call to 2mb though he didn't say anything about going to 4mb later. I'm already thrilled with the extra mb. I suppose I should have haggled for more but I'm hopeless at it and was so pleased with what I was offered I just let it be.
Thanks again.
I phoned NTL last week and asked about their advert of £15 a month for three months and was told it was only for new customers. I said o.k. but what was he going to offer me as an existing customer to stay with NTL. The operator took £8 a month off my broadband so i now pay £24.50 for digital t.v. broadband computer and free local calls after 6p. and weekends. This is for six months but now i've got such a good deal i'll phone them again in six months!0 -

I'm phoning to ask about moving over to them after NTL have screwed up my offer deal they gave me on 22nd last month I've recieved my bills full price and all call chages yet I should have been put on talk unlimited 24 and a package for all for £20.49. I want to move now I just dont like being decieved
Same problem here and i was just on for advice. I got a good deal as described before and everything including tv, unlimited talk and 10 meg broadband should have been £24. Bill came today for over £50!! Stroppy woman told me it wasnt taking effect until this month??? why have i been told that it was immediate, and i am fuming as i have had so much hassle including being disconnected on a few occassions from both the tv and broadband. Had one bill last month and have been told that i should not be paying more than £24 but this girl wont budge.
Do i have to move or i was thinking about trying disconnections again and threatening to move as i have had so many probs? Advice on what to do would be appreciated as i hate fighting and usually back down0 -
Just come off the phone from NTL - was on hold for 20 mins, but worth it.
In the end I've got:-
Base TV package
Unlimited telephone talk plan (after 6pm and all w/end)
4Mb broadband
All for...
£29.25 per month.
A result me thinks. To be honest I was only paying £31 / month anyway, so I'm, only saving £1.75 per month. That said my B/B has gone up from 1Mb to 4Mb. Can't complain, all in a day's work.0 -
I was just wondering how I might be able to play this as a potential new customer.
We are moving tomorrow, and currently have a BT line and Tesco broadband - the phone is £11 per month line rental and broadband £14.99 (we signed up for it about 10 months ago, so there is probably a little bit to go on the contracts).
The house is quite new and has never had a BT line, so getting one in would cost £124. It is NTL-enabled, but their packages are all really expensive. As a potential new customer, could I ring NTL and try to barter with them, mentioning Talk Talk?0 -
Had a go at this myself today and got 50% of my £47.50 monthly bill for the next 6 months. Was also told to contact them again in December to see what they could do for me then. The nice girl even gave me the number to call.0

I wrote to telewest and quoted all sorts of stuff and asked them directly to price match the talk talk offer. THEY SAID NO!!
Complete failure even though I said I would be cancelling if no deal were given. Any ideas?0 -

Phone them and tell them you are cancelling, be firm and be armed with the appropriate figures0 -
Don't know if anyone on here can help but I was supposed to get a credit on my bill for referring my brother to NTL. Was told it would be on last month's bill, it's not there, not on the bill I've got today either. Phoned customer services who have given me this number to phone 0845 54 77 77, does anyone have an alternative number? Either an 0800 or a landline number. Thanks!2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please0

I've just referred my daughter too but was told that it wouldnt go on untill after the first 3 months payments have gone out of the other persons account.
How did you refer them did you have to give a code or something or did you do it over the phone as thats how I did it because I lost the letter that came with my bills.
I took the guys name and mobile number and said if there were any problems I 'd get back to him as he gave her 3 months at £8.99 then the rest at £17.99 a month for just the broadband and I am supposed to get £50 for referring her as it was referred in the same day as she arranged it with them.
Was told by a few of the sales peple that the £8.99 first 3 months was only avail if you took a phoneline too but this guy said he would be able to give it her so I don't know. Some said you needed a phone some said you didnt but it had better go through anyway or I'll be mad as she would have had the £14.99 one insteadThanx

I called Telewest (though stupidly picked a day when I was off work with a huge headache to do it!) and went through to disconnections and said I wanted to find out how I would go about cancelling my phone and broadband. When they asked why I said because of TalkTalk and also Orange do free broadband.
The guy went into a spiel about how bad TalkTalk are, how they put monitoring software no the PC (I mentioned I was an IT professional and would not have a problem disabling anything like that), how their Ts&Cs are really bad etc etc.
Anyway, he then said "If we can reduce your bill would you keep it?". So I said maybe and he offered about a tenner reduction per month. I wasn't feeling well so I took it. Probably could've pushed for more, but I'm quite happy with a £120 annual saving! Apparantly it's going to be backdated as well but I'm not sure how far back. I presume to the beginning of this billing period.
