Why are you paying a rental for the V+ box? I paid a one-off £75..something I now regret given Sky are doing their boxes free.

Yes, but Virgin will service your box free, but Sky will charge a callout charge!

    There is always a penalty.
  • I checked this months bill online and it said it was for £27 when it should of been £20.. So phoned cancellations and he apologised, changed the direct debit and updated my account etc, which was fine.

Got a letter from them today stating my monthly bill is now £13 a month for 3 months then £18 a month for the remainder of the contract!

And this is for L Broadband and XL Phone.

    Well chuffed!
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.
  • I just did a new deal with Virgin media, TV XL, broadband 20mb and phone with free evening and weekend calls + 25% off mobiles with a free v+ box and installation.

12 month contract, first 2 months free, following 4 months 33 quid and following 6 months 44 quid. not bad I thought but did need to cancel my contract and stick it out for the whole notice period before doing the deal
  • I've been told to consider (by retentions team) about tv: M, phone: XL and BB: L for £25.45. Been with them since NTL days and am not impressed!

Prices will surely have to drop as speeds get faster, i.e 2mb was expensive to start with but its now not available but with ADSL its like a fiver or so! Also those who were on 2mb vm broadband got the upgrade for free which is damn good as I got a friend a deal years back tv: M, phone: XL and B: M for £22 and they are still paying this after the upgrade.

Anyway the above was FYI as I hate seeing customers being ripped off and this way you have a gauge of what kinda deal to push for!

    Hi

    I pay £30ish for:
    L Broadband
    M TV
    Unlimited Calls with line rental

I simply rang them up the other day because I was bored and see what I could do.

Went straight to retentions and said simply, I'm not happy that I've been a customer for so long and you haven't offered me a free V+HD box. Sky are offering free box with free set up so unless you can match this, I will consider leaving.

Woman gave me a free box with free set up but I have to pay £5 extra a month for the services. Currently looking at ringing up again next week and haggling more, either waive the £5 fee or upgrade to M+ TV for free.

Be confident when talking to them and let them know you're not happy, obviously don't swear and shout.

    Good luck, it's easy!

You got a great deal, just don't push your luck or they might rescind your first offer!

    Hi all
I am with bt for my phone and pay £35 a month , virgin internet £19 a month .
Virgin have just offered me 6 months free with upgrade to 20 meg internet if I take there phone line with unlimted free calls for £3 for the next 6 months total cost after the free 6 months is £38 .
  • Just wondering if anyone thinks I would be able to get a good bb deal?
I currently let out my old room in London and the Virgin Media bill is still in my name and is roughly £70 a month. I've been trying to get bb with Sky since DECEMBER (that's another story!!) and have finally given up. I am able to cancel my Virgin account now so does anyone think it is worth while calling to see if they will give me a better deal on bb ( I'm not interested in a phone line) in my new house?
    Thanks for any advice!
  • absolutely. It's always worth trying. As long as it's worth more to them to keep you as a customer than to reduce your bill, then yeah... they'll try to keep you. I called virgin last week, was paying £70 a month I think for everything... called saying we were struggling with our bills and were desperately trying to reduce our costs (all true) and she talked me through asking what services we needed/used etc... eventually she 'repackaged' our deal (and put us in a new 12 month contract) and we got around £21 a month off I think. Also realised we could stop paying the £4 a month for extra web space as we can get better/cheaper hosting elsewhere. so basically thats £300 a year we've just saved. VERY helpful.... and Virgin get to keep another customer on their books. I have to say I'm really happy with Virgin, never had any problems with them :)
