I love this website lol. We've taken so many tips over the years from here. Latest thing I'm tackling is our cable bill.
I've been seeing people talking about £30, £40, and £50 a month bills... and wondering where we're going wrong??? Our latest was over £70. - £840 a year!
I just went online and had a look at my bill on the ebilling page, here's the details of last month. What suggestions could anyone give as to where we're paying over the odds.....
Telephone Line Rental - £11.00
Payment Handling Charge - £5.00
Phone, TV & B B Bundle Saving - £-9.50
Call Displ - £2.00
Fully Itemised Billing - £0.00
T V Size: X L - £23.00
V+ Box - £10.00
Broadband Size: L - £25.00
Blueyonder Webspace (Advanced) - £4.00
I'm assuming the 'payment handling charge' was because we paid manually last month (a direct debit bounced by accident). We might be able to lose the webspace advanced £4 fee as well. (we made a website for our various road trip photos, but we could probably start using photobucket to store the pics.
Where else are we going wrong? Thanks guys! :beer:0 -
Hi...moving soon. Ist time virgin customer (line already in new house) but no freeview reception in area..total yearly cost (inc line rental) £555, works out at £39-99 for 1st 6 months then £52-50 PCM for remaining 6 months. By my working out about £60 saving off TOTAL web price for year. For this we're getting....V+HD box (no £75 install charge) ....bb at 10mb (no download limit), xl tv package, extra v box (not v+), phone with free w/end calls (talk w/end?).
Now there IS a BT line in house too & I'm fairly sure there's a sky aerial at front (no socket in house though). At the mo i live in a strong freeview area & have a brill PVR...the freeview selection really is all I need but the XL tv on the virgin pack gives further discounts apparently. Do you think SKY would have any better delas (my only criteria really is a PVR box..optional extra basic box, minimum 10mb b/b (no limit on it) & phone line with SOME free calls (don't use it much)...tried calling sky but can't really understand the 2 people I got through to (overseas??)..I suppose the advantage of SKY is that you keep the dish/sky+ box when contract ends & you could then just have it for free to air programmes?
If only the area had freeview reception!
Any further ideas on SKY good people & if I've got a good deal?0 -
Hi..I was shocked to learn just how much VM are charging for phone calls.
10p..connection and 6p per minute for UK calls. Their 0844 charges at
10p connection and 9p per minute are an absolute disgrace.. Especially as
more and more Doctor's surgeries in Scotland are switching to these numbers.
I am experimenting now with localphone.com direct dial but does this mean I am actually paying Virgin Media's UK call rates for the duration of any calls.?
Any suggestions to what I should be using instead?0 -
As an MSE, you should be using saynoto0870.com for 0844 numbers;)0

I would try giving them a call, at the very least you should get a £10 reduction, ( I thought V+ was free if you took the XL TV) I dont know anything about the webspace thing though! You have nothing to lose by trying. I think we pay £45 for more or less the same package and I'm considering trying to get this down.0 -
Have you tried asking on the forum?0

Why are you paying a rental for the V+ box? I paid a one-off £75..something I now regret given Sky are doing their boxes free.0
