I just got after about 30 mins conversation and haggling with a great CS rep called Jamie in retentions:
L BB
L Phone
XL TV with free V+ HD box installed and setup
Line Rental
= £31.50 pm
Also offered one months FREE line rental or one months FREE sky movies subscription - went for line rental as member of love film anyway.
The magic word I was told was when I said 'Sky' were offering :O)
Not bad at all I think?0 -
I called virgin and have managed to maintain my present deal which i felt was a good deal in any event;
Advance charges £22.49Telephone Line Rental £11.00
Talk International £1.50
Talk Mobile £1.50
Talk Unlimited £7.95
Loyalty Pack: B B / Phone £-19.46
Free Voicemail £0.00
TV Size: M £0.00
Broadband Size: M £20.00ebilling £-1.00
Overall total is £21.49 - so really my monthly bill has only gomne up the £2 for the 10meg BB, which we all have to pay anyway0 -
I have been watching this thread with interest and was concerned about getting any money off my Virgin Media package, as I am a low-spend customer (Broadband Size M and Telephone Line Rental - basic package).
Until recently I was on the deal launched last year (£15.50 per month) - then they added £2 per month and also removed £5.50 of my discount (so it was £23 per month).
I rang Virgin Media and haggled for all of 5 minutes. I'm now paying £18 per month for 12 months (a bit more than the current SimplifyDigital TalkTalk 18 month deal, but with 10 MB Broadband instead of "up to 8MB").
I thought this message may give hope to you low-spenders out there!0 -
I've been paying £10 for just the M broadband for the last 2 years renewed by negotiation every 6 months. When renewing in Jan 2009 I had to opt for paperless billing to retain that price. When my last deal ran out a week ago following the upgrade to 10MB about 4 weeks ago the best deal I could negotiate was £17 if I wanted to keep the 10MB speed but they offered a continuation of my £10 rate if I agreed to the speed reverting back to 2MB. So it seems that they are using the "free" speed upgrade to increase revenue. I can't say I was surprised.

My last deal , also taken Jan 09 for 6 months, ran out in July too. I called and said I wasn't prepared to pay £18 a month for just broadband, and would be leaving....they immediately reinstated my deal to just under £11 a month, for a year.
They also said my 2mg BB would be automatically upgraded anyway next month, for the same price. (I said in my negotiations that I wasn't bothered about a faster speed, if I had to pay £8 a month more).
They seem to be using the "Sign Up Now for a Speed Upgrade" as a signal to up the price. If you don't sign up, as I purposely didn't, knowing I wanted to haggle soon, and show no interest, they upgrade you anyway, but won't charge for it!
I understood from the VM rep that they won't be supplying a 2mg BB service to anyone soon.

Just got this deal, seems pretty good.
M - Phone
L - Broadband
XL - TV
V+ Box (had allready)
1GB mobile broadband and free 10" netbook
£45 for fist month, then £55 TOTAL.
That seems reasonable to me.0 -
just renewed with malcolm & got :
BB L 10mb
TV XL
Phone L
V+ already had.
£30 pm. (£29 inc e-billing discount). They are definately doing cheaper deals than they were a week or 2 ago.0 -
VM are getting wise to this. They now make notes on your account when you ask for a deal, so you can't do it too often.0

Hi wonder if you guys could help ?
I'm with virgin & have free evening & weekend calls to landline nos only. I have to pay for 0845, 0870 & mobiles. 0800 calls are free.
I want to use an override provider & will only be making UK calls (mobiles, 0845, UK landlines etc), and NO overseas calls. I'm hoping that ill be able to call the non-prefix number that you have to use with virgin (ie 0880 number for 18185), for free under my talkplan!
My main question is - can you tell me if there is one stand out override provider that is best when you take out the overseas calling calculation?
Thanks!!
Steve0
