    Wahoo, thank you thread.
I was on phone+TV+Broadband and that was costing up approx £38 per month. We then cancelled TV and phone as we rarely used them and that took us to £24 per month. We then saw a move to BT and plusnet would get us just broadband for £17.25 a month.
After phoning and explaining this was purely a financial decision Virgin media, easy as pie, said they could offer me £14 per month for 6 months and £18 per month for six months on a 12 month contract.
    So we went from
    £456 TV, broadband and phone
    to
£299.40 after we cancelled TV + Phone
    to
£207 if we moved to BT and plusnet
    to
£192 - because Virgin wanted us to stay
So we've saved £107 on similar packages but ultimately we've saved £262 at the loss of a few services we never use anyway (We do catch-up online)

Debt at highest ..............Debt (june 2006).......... Debt now (January 2010).......Debt free date (original) .......Debt free date (revised)
    £33,522.91............. £17484.36 ............. £17141.07........................January 2014............... August 2015

    Oh well...
Call Virgin, and said i was moving home to non-cable area, was advised that would need a new contract, told them my phone line at the new place would become active on Monday, so they told me they call me on Monday.

Monday comes no call. I call them on Tuesday and guess what they tell me? My contract been cancelled. Oh well, i didnt ask for it YET, but thought too bad for you, Virgin.

Got my broadband from O2 ( changed my phone sim cards to O2). Next day Virgin calls... Sorry guys, already ordered elsewhere!

I mean, come on! They do not really care about keeping a customer, better deal with O2 now!

I thought I'd post this to let you know how much I pay:

    M Broad Band
    L TV
    M Phone
    Virgin +Box

Got it down to £40 pm. Yet I would like to change the TV to XL and reinstate my extra non Virgin+ box in the other room for about the same cost. Wish me luck!

Is there any way to get virgin to give free 0845 and 0870 numbers?

I've just had my bill and its a fair bit higher than usual £9 over with 0845 and 0870 numbers (all ones I cant get free or landline numbers for even on saynoto0870) I'm not happy when bt do them for free

Plus do we have to have the international and mobile add ons as they cost £1.50 each and I don't need them
    Thanx

    Hi,

Thanks to this forum, I saved a fortune on my broadband. I was with virgin for last one year on phone + BB + TV (all basic packages) and was paying £21 a month.

Since I was moving home, I phoned virgin and asked for a cheaper deal with just broadband, which compares to other packages on BT (like BT + O2, TalkTalk etc). Initially they said that my current plan is no more available and I have to spend £25 a month to get phone + TV + BB.So I went ahead and cancelled the contract.

2 days later, someone from Virgin called and told that I can get Phone + 10 MbPS BB for £15.95 a month. I immediately said yes as this would save more than £ 100 a month and speed is much better compared to BT (atleast in my last one year's experience).

Now I am thinking of getting a Sky "Pay once watch forever" package which costs £75.

    Thanks
    Vikram

When I asked them about giving 0845/0870 for free as BT does, their asnwer was BT was loosing too many customers and thats why they have done it. And Virgin has no plans of giving them as part of inclusive minutes.

As far as the international and mobile add on goes, its not mandatory. Call 150 from your virgin phone and get rid of them if you dont use them.

    Cheers
    Vikram
