Nicki, I don't know that much about it, but 6lb 3oz sounds like quite a healthy weight for that point. I'm hoping I can have an elective c-section, because I found it really quite traumatic last time, so I totally understand your relief.

Got a chance for a sneaky catch up after all. Oooh lots of us now who want elective c sections! Will be nice to be in a group. Its funny how often the tone of the thread changes though. When I first posted about it, there were lots of girls who were ardent home birthers with no pain relief, but now things seem a bit more evenly split!

6lb 3oz at this point was off the top of their growth chart, red. If it went full term, assuming it continues to grow at this rate, it would be a 9-10lber . What is weird is that I am still losing weight - another couple of pounds this check up - even though baby is obviously growing very well. In total, over the whole of the pregnancy I've only put on 5kgs according to my notes (of which 2.5 is baby, and presumably some also placenta, fluid, etc). I wasn't big to start off with either, so not sure where baby is getting its nutrition from .

I am so relieved to know though that whatever happens this one is coming out by the sun roof not the trap door, even if I do go into labour spontaneously. And the fact that there are medical reasons not just emotional reasons for the section means that my health insurance should cover the extra costs, which is a bonus but wouldn't have been a clincher frankly!

Has anyone heard whether Suzy has had her little girl yet?

If its sudden swelling and quite bad then get it checked. I was quite surprised when I read the other day that your blood pressure was high and IIRC you had protein in your urine too and that they didn't do bloods for pre-eclampsia. Don't want to worry you, but people rarely feel actually ill with it.

Nicki- Good news about the section, I hope you can be a bit calmer now you know exactly whats happening!

Thanks, it's not bad, just the first time it's happened. It's slowly going down so I'll wait and see how it is tomorrow.

They're not panicking about BP because I had it before pregnancy but I am getting checked out every week so hopefully they'll pick up anything untoward.

Finally caught up with all your news over the last few days - am sure I left on the last thread! And I am another year older too - reminds me, mustbemad, a most excellent day for Chloe to arrive! - although obviously still 29!

Tigster - hope you are doing ok in hospital and sending you staying put vibes.

As for the leaving work, am leaving at dead on 34 weeks - I decided this a while back after the high risk combined test results before all the bp and scan appointments came up and while financially I am umming and ahhing about it now, am going to stick with it as have just about zero motivation at work these days (was very close to leaving but then along came bump, strongly suspect my boss will be glad to see the back of me and he has made it clear that part time working is not an option so doubt I'll be going back anyway) and the commute is nearly 3 hours a day on a rubbish train service. Added to that is our house offer has been accepted and our agent is optimistic about getting our 1 bed flat shifted quickly, so fingers crossed, I will have lots of packing / unpacking time.

Midwife appointment today was all good - normal bp, nice strong heartbeat, wriggling, fundal height normal, pee normal. What more could a preggers lady want, eh?!

ooh, the only other thing - what does a glucose test involve (I do remember a few of you having this but that was ageeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees ago. Because my booking in BMI was above 28 (a smidge under 30) todays midwife (another one - not seen the same one twice!) decided I need a glucose test at 26 weeks.

And I was adamant that I was having a VBAC, oh how quickly a few weeks of pain can change your mind

Great news for you Nicki, I hope it goes well. What about the wobbles? Settled down any now you know exactly what is happening?

Wow that took a while to catch up, we have all been very chatty today.
Congratulations on the births, had been quiet on the birth front for a few days then all at once like the buses lol

Still nothing about a MW appointment stupid postman is not delivering mail to us. got a letter i should have got last week with unable to gain entry on it.

I had a emergency section with DD then when i was expecting DS i was told to they would only perform a section again if i had complications. Had a natural birth after all.

Think i may call the hospital tomorrow just in case the post man is playing stupid games with my appointment letter. Don't want to get the letter after my appointment!! Hope everyone is well.

I dont have my card yet, the midwife said my doctor has to send off for it and it takes like 2/3 weeks to get a non urgent appointment at my docs.

Hi EA, I just got the receptionist to stamp my form for me at the practice and didn't need n appt with an actual dr- not sure if that helps. My card was through within a week or so too.

Hope you feel better soon, must be awful especially with the heat

    Hi all,

I've not caught up or read any of the thread so forgive me.

Just to let you all know that my beautiful angel has arrived.

Sofia-Rose born 16th August at 14:07. She is totally amazing and we love her so much. I can't bear to be apart from her as i write this lol.

Everything went well, I had a artificial rupture of the membranes (you can still see the scratches on the head!) and a drip put in, straightforward delivery and I was home 2.5 hours later..a record!

Anyway must dash.hope everyones well and babies are cooking nicely

    love to all

32B - you should definitely phone the hospital and ask about an appointment. You wouldn't think it would take very long to send out a letter!

    Check this out - mental:

Nikki - glad you have got a date and can hopefully relax now you know what is happening.

Glam - work is busy busy busy. No idea how I am going to get everything done! Didn't have time to get the RLT on the way home as the traffic was really bad and I didn't want to risk being late. Will try tomorrow!

Off to Parentcraft now. DH is coming down with the cold, so not a good start!
