How many scan photos did you all get at 12 week scan?

I think at my hospital you get one free then have to pay for rest?

Was that the case for you? if so how many extra did you buy?

we bought 3 @ £2 each but in hindsight would have just got 1 as we took a pic of it and emailed it to family and friends. got 1 copy at 20 and 31 week scan - probably won't bother 2mora at 35 weeks cos u can't see much!!

just thought jillie not been on for a while hope shes ok

    Hello,

Skiving at work again! Having a quick catch up as got Parentcraft tonight so might not get chance later.

Congrats to Vickylee and Fairydawn! Lovely to hear from you both and glad you and babies are well. FD - I think Oscar is our top boys name at the moment so good choice! :T xx

SJ - regarding waxing, I went to get waxed when I was about 10 weeks pregnant and the salon said they wouldn't do it until I was passed 12 weeks. I don't think there is any danger, but it was their policy in case you had a miscarriage and laid any blame on them. I have heard this from others too. Not sure how far along you are (not got time to count!) but bear it in mind. I went the night before going on holiday so it was too late to go elsewhere!!

Nut allergies - I am avoiding peanuts as OH has lots of allergies including hayfever and pets. I think the current guidance is to avoid peanuts if you or OH have any allergies, but it is due to change soon. I don't think I believe that avoiding them will make a difference, but OH doesn't want me to so happy to go with him on this one. His friend's wife has 2 kids and ate peanuts during 1 pregnancy and that child has peanut allergy. Probably coincidence, but just in case...

CB - I hope you are ok. Hugs to you. When is your due date? I couldn't see you on the EDD list.

  • Fitzio due on 2nd September although I normally go overdue - I will be 38wks tomorrow.

Managed to speak to DH so at least he knows (he needs to arrange cover at work and things) There is something in my head about he couldn't get cover on 28th August... and mum (who will be looking after the other 3) is a 6 hour drive away on the 25th/26th August *lol* so if I go into labour on either of those days I need to do it during school hours! ;)

Trying to write a list of jobs that need to be done in priority order - at least then the important stuff will get done (fingers crossed)

Elective is so much easier. By day 2 I was pain free at rest and day 4 walking was painfree if I took it easy.

tbh, PJ's are useless, the lower half of my belly is still numb and the PJs pressed against it which was a horrible feeling. I wore a cheap primark nightshirt with buttons down the front so I could breast feed.

Get joggers that fit comfotably now, make sure they don't press in. It takes a week or two for your uterus to shrink down and again if they are too tight it's not nice.

Thank you for the advice Tia. Will get some nightshirts then. Have absolutely no recollection what i wore after having DS. In hospital or at home. Think they may have given me a labotomy whilst in there :rotfl:

We're both great. She is a very good baby (to make up for my not so good pregnancy?), sleeping soundly right now while I pump off some boobie juice :D
    Hi,
Is it difficult to request the elective - does the midwife etc agree quite easily?
I had an emergency c-section last time and I was told at the time that next time I could request another c-section. I have yet to see the midwife, but when I spoke to the doctor and he asked me if I had any problems, I explained what had happened and he was really off-hand about the whole thing. I would really feel more comfortable if I could have the elective, but now I'm a bit nervous about requesting one.

I've not heard anyone get a negative reaction to requesting an elective after an em c section. I was wanting a VBAC, and I only agreed to an elective at the last moment (my consultant prefered the idea of me having an elective over an induction). Just ask them, they can't actually say no and should discuss it all with you.

Fitzio I'm 14 weeks - phoned up and made the appointment and told her I was pg and not a problem. Going in on the 10th Sept as wedding is 12th so hopefully won;t be bruised or anything lol!! Also getting a full body scrub and back massage which sounds so good!!

EA I had McD's for lunch but am regretting it now - the skirt that I was wearing that was digging into my bump is really digging in now!! Must have bloated up!

I wish I was craving steamed broccoli and fruit - all I can think about is junk food and it's worse cos I keep going and eating it! I'm going to start putting on non-bump weight soon, I can tell.

Glam - thanks for that! Shame there isn't a "surprise" smiley!!

Next time the list is updated can I have a "no idea what flavour my baby will be" smiley please as I won't be finding out!! Thanks!!

Red, i was absolutely gobsmacked at how easy it was today. Don't know why, but i expected to have to put up some kind of a fight. When i went to see consultant at 28 weeks, they couldn't find my notes from having DS, so said that we would talk about it at 36 weeks app, when notes had been located. Saw the a registra today. He came in said i see you had an emergency section before, what do you want to do this time? I said elective section. He said right i'll get a concent form. He filled it in, gave me a run down of possible side effects, things that can go wrong etc, i signed it, was given a copy, then he rang through to whoever, and was given a date. Easy peasy. But then i suppose it is all down to the doctor, the hopsital, the trust. At 28 weeks i was told by the midwife that in the end it would be my choice, and i couldn't be forced to either have a section or VBAC. He also asked what i wanted to do if i went into spontaneous labour before the date given, i said elective and he said if it happens ring labour ward and get in asap.

Bit of a ramble but hope this helps.
  • Hi Sarah Joanne - you're getting married on the same day as my work colleague. I hope you have a lovely day.
I'm currently trying to find something to wear for the evening reception that hopefully I can fit into again one day, and b) won't show anything, as judging by my last pregnancy I'll be starting to show already by then!
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)
