workinmummy wrote: »Red, i was absolutely gobsmacked at how easy it was today. Don't know why, but i expected to have to put up some kind of a fight. When i went to see consultant at 28 weeks, they couldn't find my notes from having DS, so said that we would talk about it at 36 weeks app, when notes had been located. Saw the a registra today. He came in said i see you had an emergency section before, what do you want to do this time? I said elective section. He said right i'll get a concent form. He filled it in, gave me a run down of possible side effects, things that can go wrong etc, i signed it, was given a copy, then he rang through to whoever, and was given a date. Easy peasy. But then i suppose it is all down to the doctor, the hopsital, the trust. At 28 weeks i was told by the midwife that in the end it would be my choice, and i couldn't be forced to either have a section or VBAC. He also asked what i wanted to do if i went into spontaneous labour before the date given, i said elective and he said if it happens ring labour ward and get in asap.
Bit of a ramble but hope this helps.
Thanks very much for this - that is exactly how I feel, for some reason I keep thinking I'm going to have to fight to get it. It was so stressful last time, and I just don't want to put my husband and daughter through that again - or myself for that matterWorking hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

I've not heard anyone get a negative reaction to requesting an elective after an em c section. I was wanting a VBAC, and I only agreed to an elective at the last moment (my consultant prefered the idea of me having an elective over an induction). Just ask them, they can't actually say no and should discuss it all with you.
Thanks Tia, when it comes to this, I feel a bit like a naughty schoolgirl for some reason!Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

I'm currently trying to find something to wear for the evening reception that hopefully I can fit into again one day, and b) won't show anything, as judging by my last pregnancy I'll be starting to show already by then!
Well I'm currently wondering whether I'll still be able to fit in my wedding dress as I am most defintiely showing already!!! The dress is a size 8
Can everyone please send me some magic-stretchy-dress vibes?!?!0 -
Anyway off home to go see the reception venue to hand over all our hard-earned cash then got friends coming over for dinner and I'm making lasagne and melt in the middle chocolate puddings!! Yum!0

Ok finally decided to get myself on here properly - am due 5th November, but dunno what we're having - I hate baby pink so it's one way of avoiding getting tonnes of pink stuff from people before the baby is born!
Anyway, am approx 28 weeks and all is well. Am opting for a home birth despite this being my first. I'm low risk and I hate hospitals with a passion (no reason, just never been in one before overnight and don't want this to be the first time!). I live in Chorlton in Manchester and apparently it's very common here so no probs with requesting it.
Have only just started buying stuff as it's been a hell of year (still got a cat with a broken leg and a poorly lizard at home), but went to the carboot sales in Milton Keynes (where I grew up) and got some absolute bargains! So quick question - has anyone used dippy diapers before? They are cotton re-useables and I just wanted to see what people thought as we want to try them and we got a whole set for an awesome price. If all else fails I can ebay them for more than we paid for them!0 -

SJ if you're having trouble with the dress a couple of weeks before the wedding drop me a PM. My dress was made in China with accommodation for a four-months bump - the belly was barely noticeable in it. I'm 5'1 and an 8 and if it'll fit you and you like it the fairies might take it upon themselves to put an exact replica (not mine in case that's against the rules...) on ebay for you. It still needs cleaning, but that shouldn't take more than a couple of days and it's in the UK so can be sent next-day.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Sorry, haven't had time to catch up as parents are here, but will pop back on later for a full catch up.
Had my scan earlier today, and baby is still breach, and estimated weight at 33.5 weeks is 6lb 3 oz. So it has been agreed that it will be a planned c section in the week beginning 21 September. Those who know me, know that this is GOOD news, after a previous very difficult VBAC. Those who don't know me, please don't post that there is still time for baby to turn, or suggest a home birth is still possible for a large breach birth, as this is not what I want and will really freak me out!
Will come back later tonight when parents have gone to bed and catch up properly. Hope there will be some good news from Suzy waiting for me.0 -
hi nef and welcome
magic stretchy dress vibes to SJ!!
I think I could have a section without any fight if I wanted - last time I was told I was having a section and then consultant realised I wasn't who she thought
Apparently there is a 50% chance that my labour will end up in a section anyway because of the GD and the fact that they don't let you stay in established labour for too long because of the risks.
I'll do the list again in a min (cos Nef hasn't put herself in date order)
ETA - Nicki, glad u r getting a elective section and you will be part of the 22nd Spet crew now!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
