EA - you wouldn't need a GP appt for your exemption card. Just ring the receptionist and tell them u r pg and need a card, they may fill it in for you, get it signed and then post it. Or u could get OH to collect a form, u could fill it out and then get GP to sign it. MW should have given you the form really and told u to complete it.

Seems a waste of a GP appointment IMO

re nuts- guidance has recently changed so might be worth a Google.

I fancy McDonalds and Chocloate covered raisins now

Thats what i thought, i dont want to be waiting for a docs appointment just to fill in a form. I'll pop down when im better and get them to pass a message onto him. I fancy a Mcdonalds but OH is refusing to get one, on the basis of that it 'might' go cold on the way home. We live like 7 minutes away from McDonalds
I think the advice (just now because it always changes!) is that peanuts specifically should be avoided if you have a history of nut allergies/athsma/excema (lol at spelling sorry!) Your mw is probably hesitating because of your oh's allergy...

Well i had ashtma when i was a baby and had eczema to. OH has asthma and prob every allergy under the sun.
She's on holiday at the moment so i cant call her, but i really fancy a snickers bar. :rotfl:

Had emergency section with DS. Very scary, bang on big red button on wall, doctors and midwives running in. You don't know whats going on. Lots of crying from me and OH. Poor OH left by himself in bits while i was being prepped. So have chickened out and requested the elective this time, petrified of the whole thing happening again. Everyone i have spoken to who has had an elective says its so much different, more relaxed and the recovery is easier.

Registrar was very impressed with my existing scar, it is really thin and barely noticeble. Have requested they use they follow the same line for this one. Hope five years down the line it looks just as good.

Can i ask what size Pj's / joggers you bought. I'm usually a size 8 at most. Am currently wearing matalan 12-14 Pjs. But not sure what size i should buy for after birth. (You would never think already had a baby would you?) Is it wishful thinking to get a 10 in Pj's and joggers for after, or am i pushing it?

Elective is so much easier. By day 2 I was pain free at rest and day 4 walking was painfree if I took it easy.

tbh, PJ's are useless, the lower half of my belly is still numb and the PJs pressed against it which was a horrible feeling. I wore a cheap primark nightshirt with buttons down the front so I could breast feed.

Get joggers that fit comfotably now, make sure they don't press in. It takes a week or two for your uterus to shrink down and again if they are too tight it's not nice.
  • EA - the phone number you have for your MW will probably put you through to all of the MW's that cover your area if you wanted to check... although I am pretty sure that being pregnant makes you crave the things you are not allowed! Broccoli and Stilton soup would normally be my last choice - if I had a bowl of it infront of me now - it would be gone :rotfl:

Hope you are feeling better soon btw.

  • Hi,
Is it difficult to request the elective - does the midwife etc agree quite easily?
I had an emergency c-section last time and I was told at the time that next time I could request another c-section. I have yet to see the midwife, but when I spoke to the doctor and he asked me if I had any problems, I explained what had happened and he was really off-hand about the whole thing. I would really feel more comfortable if I could have the elective, but now I'm a bit nervous about requesting one.
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)

How many scan photos did you all get at 12 week scan?

I think at my hospital you get one free then have to pay for rest?

Was that the case for you? if so how many extra did you buy?

I have her mobile number, and as our maternity unit moved from one hospital to another i think the number has changed. No one ever answers the number i have anymore.

It does make you crave things you cant have. Like i was used to not having snickers bars but i want one so bad right now its all i can think about :rotfl:

Though i have recently been craving more fruit, and i fancied some steamed brocolli the other day  Weird baby... :rotfl:

I was veggie for 12 years before dd1 arrived - before I even knew I was pregnant I was craving steak - not just craving actually had to eat :rotfl: (the only thing I had missed over the years was bacon so steak was a huge surprise!) that was one of the things that made me do a test :o

Ah sorry my notes have the number that puts you through to the MW team - different areas I guess

scan pics - we were given 3 - no charge and no donation box in sight either...
