Beenie - not sure about the chlamydia test. I thought I might have had that at my booking bloods, but according to my notes (I think) they only test under 25s. I did have bloods taken at my 28 week appointment though.
Csh - I read somewhere you need to eat 9 pineapples!! It kind of put me off lol.0 -
Re: notes I wrote to the head of midwifery services, cos I couldn't write to the hospital, as I never went in one :rotfl: (edit: so I wasn't sure which one of the 3 to write to IYSWIM?) paid £10 admin and they photocopied the lot and sent them promptly.
I was keen to have them because there's very detailed info about how my speed of contractions changed due to the water and it's temperature etc, and I'd like to use that info to maximise best use of water next time

I grew up in the sticks and would loooooove to move outta the city, trust me!!
I love London and have missed my annual visit to London this year. DH was saying the other day that he had missed it too. We usually go down once or twice and go to theatre etc. We got engaged in Trafalgar Square (and I got my mugged on The Strand on my 30th birthday!). So lots of lovely memories lol.
I think I would have liked to have lived there when I was younger, but not now. Prefer the suburbs for kids I think. I don't live in the countryside and only 20 mins from Glasgow/Edinburgh, but there is a farm with cows outside our back garden so feel like we have it quite balanced!0 -

I think I would die if I had 9 pineapples!! I'll see how big they are and go for 2 or 3 at the most :rotfl:
I just want him out now. Its very strange, but it actually feels less real the closer I get. I could imagine having a baby when I was about 10wks but now I can't imagine it at all even though the house is full of baby things??
I can't beleive there will be a baby in this house within the next 3 weeks:eek:0 -
Yeah, Fitzio that's what London is right now, some place we've lived while "younger"
and now that we're moving out of "younger", we're ready to move out! It was fun for a while, but I'm ready for some fresh air & clean countryside - also I know how many great memories of my childhood stem directly from our rural setting and really want that opportunity for our children. We've just work ourselves up to being in a position to leave!
weezl - that's really neat that they take that detailed of information. I would've they'd be too busy dealing with mom/baby to take note of those sort of things, but I guess I under-estimated the MWs.

I'm amazed by the detail! Water temperature and notes of how frequently and for how long I contracted taken every 20 mins over a 7 hr period. We were asked to have a clock with a second hand in the room when we moved rooms so she could keep track, and DH took my temps and water temps for her at one point.
Mostly they let us get on with stuff unless I got really agitated, they could see that DH was very up for being an active birth partner :rotfl: and were happy to free him up for that. They intervened lots more when I was moved at 8cm to have pethidine, and at the pushing bit. One did controlled crowning (reduces risk of tearing by as much as 70%) while the other shouted pushing instructions at my head end :rotfl::o.
I think they kinda take their lead from you about what you want/need? At least the good ones do! I was lucky and have never met a MW I didn't completely trust :A. Health visitors on the other hand :rotfl:

Finally.....I can come off the top of the list. I must have stayed there for longer than anyone else ever in the history of this thread.
Dylan James Gaze Rees was born at exactly 11.11am on 11 September weighing 8lb 6oz. It was a rollercoaster ride to get him here - I was rushed to hospital in an ambulance in the middle of the night way back on 4 September after having been diagnosed with suspected pre-eclampsia and then having a massive reaction to the prescribed drugs. I never actually left the hospital after that until this Sunday! To be honest a lot of it is a blur, particularly the two days leading up to him finally arriving. I'm piecing together (with a lot of tears) everything that happened but the whole thing was very traumatic. I'll get it together soon to write a proper birth story for the other thread but basically I had two failed inductions before ending up with an emergency c-section in horrible circumstances. It was about as far from my planned home birth with pool as it could possibly get.
Now home and very sore and washed out feeling from everything, but at the centre of it all is this amazing, perfect little brand new person. We have been very indulgent and set up his own website so family miles away can look at him so there are a few photos here if anyone wants to marvel at his gorgeousness with me! www.dylanrees.co.uk

oooh just got my craft magazine and it's got some free 'raymond briggs' paper with it which is rather cute
can't make christmas cards yet though, still need to make baby thankyou cards (but need to get the cardstock for that as mine is in the storage room *somewhere*)
Also got parcel from my mum which I know is full of newborn outfits for the beaniebaby and I really want to open it but being good and waiting till hubby is home0 -
jenny - yeah, your post about nurseries has really scared me. Need to start looking locally and making some decisions. Had thought we might want to go with a childminder, so surely a year in advance is a bit early for those? I'm sooooo clueless in this realm and we can't afford anything close to £60/day!!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne
