Hi Madwoman,,,love the name,,,,
i am not the best to give advice on your bag as i am having trouble with my own,lol but im sure you will get some great advice very soon from some of the more organised ladies,,,,;)
but one thing i would say as it is your first is maybe pack a little extra for the baby as you will prob be in hosp a little longer that some of us,,
they will throw us out of the door once the baby has popped out lol,,,,telling us weve done it all before,,,,
yes i have but it was 13 years ago,,,,:eek:0 -
Madwoman your list looks fine to me, but do you have someone who could get more stuff if you have to stay longer?
What about a magazine or something? I know everyone will scoff and say no time for reading, but when baby is asleep and the nurses are walking up and down the corridors every 2 seconds, or having a staff party in the next room at 3am, then i'd want something to read so i didn't go mental lol0 -

thinks thats all'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
must remember to pack some clothes again for me.
just trackie bottoms, t shirt and cardigan. need to pack my pj's as well
and i must add to my overnight/labour bag now that i'm home again'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
I am not sure they keep you in much longer even with your first Lil Miss! I think it's just overnight unless there is a reason for you to stay in longer.
Madwoman - I packed my bags the other day, and it's so difficult to decide what you are going to need as everyone has different advice. Things I have included which you may/may not want to consider:
Warm socks for labour (apparently your feet can get really cold when pushing!)
Face cloths/flannels (for me or baby!)
Vaseline (for baby's bottom - apparently it makes the meconium poo less sticky)
Nappy sacks
Towels
Lip balm (if using gas and air, your mouth/lips dry up badly apparently)
Lightweight dressing gown (to offer extra cover in case I am pacing the corridors!)
I also have a couple of spare nightdresses/PJs and 2 packs of maternity pads as everyone says you bleed heavily and leak, but again only going on the advice of others!
I have packed 10 nappies, but this might be too many. It seems to be what others had recommended.
Formula milk - I think a lot of hospitals require you to bring your own now as they are so focussed on promoting breast feeding, so I would take some or call the hospital to check first.
Congrats on finishing work!!0 -
Gawd, why does it always feel so hard to have a word with the numerous brats who insist on using the front of my house as a playground to !!!! off?
They've moved about 2 steps away, so i can still hear their racket but if i keep going out i think they'll just do it on purpose for a laugh0 -
Jillie - nice to see you back!!
Did you get a quick update? Glam had to go back into hospital again with Jack, but is home now. WM is home with Alex. Xmas has disappeared so we think she must be with baby by now. Everone else has the same problems and ailments as before!!
My due date is 20/09/2009 - I hadn't even noticed! If I don't go before then, no-one had better steal my date!!!0 -

I am currently working my way through my Charlies Ark cross stitch for the nursery, but my mam kind of made me not want to do it as much, cos she said the pattern looks like a boy, and I said well it is a boy, but that doesnt mean I cant hang it in a girls nursery? so now I dont know what to do? we are going to find out the sex if we can at the 20 week scan
What would you do? keep stitching?
Bear - how can you take your own ice? I dont understand lol
bear family - I Have a tiny freezer so I cant do batch cookingour fridge is on its way out, so we are saving for an american fridge frezer then I will batch cook
Hi,
I would keep stitching, I've made a little mistake in my height chart and I'm carrying on. Who cares if it looks too boyish to hang in a girls' nursery. Good grief they are sent to try us aren't they.
I'm going to make ice cubes and then transfer to a thermos to pack when needed.
Do you mean an american fridge freezer - costs nearly £10k - or an american-style one e.g whirlpool? 'Cos the freezer section isn't really that big in these models.

I am getting very short-tempered at work- I just cannot be bothered anymore. One of the people I am handing over to just seems to have an answer for everything, and already knows it all.......will be interesting to see how they go when I actually leave as I have a feeling what I am saying is going right over their head . I did tell them today that I would not be answering any work calls when on ML...I think they were a little taken aback by that!
.
I got like this, too. The guy standing in for me was fine but my line manager, who was a total b**ch about me being pregnant was still asking me questions about her job the day I left. (i'd been there twice as long as she had) They aren't actually allowed to call you as it isn't allowed for you to get paid/take on work while receiving maternity benefit, so you are well within your rights to say this.
Well done on the clothes haul! Sounds fab.

I am ready to finish work now - 17 working days left yay. Currently training a new person (although they had a week booked off so spent a couple of days training then she is off on hols and back next week!) but training seems to be more tiring than just getting on with it myself.
Kindof - keep stitching.
Re iron tabs again - my GP prescribed so they just put it in the prescription bottle and I was trying to figure out when/how to take it but there was definitely nothing on/in the bottle. I don't think I will worry too much as I only take one a day and like someone else said - I'll forget to take it if I don't take it at breakfast.
Is anyone else's baby going crazy at the mo? Feels like it could burst out alien style at anytime!!Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)
Floyd Peter arrived 9th July 2011 (1 day early)0
