Any one know what the early signs for SPD(think thats it), my hips are sore and i feel like i'm walking like john wayne they keep locking then clicking like a roller coaster car reaching the top of the ramp. what do you's think.

Aarrgg forgot the veg. of to peel and chop.

Baby H's going home outfit was just an excuse to spend £20 voucher on one little humphreys corner outfit (though in my defense it is a romper, vest, hat and blanket). If Mothercare hadn't given me all those vouchers I'm not sure I could have justified 'real' money on it but I love it. And she will wear it as much as possible to get my moneys worth.

There won't really be anyone I can send home to pick stuff up for me, well not without putting them out, so I am trying to make sure that I have everything I need. And some cash so that I can send visitors out to get anything I might have forgotten.

Goodness, yes then you need to cover every eventuality. I can just see my OH not knowing where I keep even the basics, such as knickers or bringing me in some frilly, useless pair:rotfl:

I think that would go for most men Bear, I know my dad would struggle to find anything for my mum, even if she drew him a map lol. Can't believe they used to stay in for a week or two. Good job his mum was around to look after him at the time.

I read all the lists posted and just check that I have everything that might apply to me. Can't believe it took fitz's list earlier to remind me that baby might need a blanket. Wont get the Humphrey blanket for a couple of days as mum has it ready to wash once we know that I have bought the right size. Nice little cellular one in the bag for now.

Grinning at the idea of you trying to keep a maternity pad in with a frilly pair of knickers, Bear.

  • Woah, very quiet on here today.

Just been mystery shopping and having a complete 'mare trying to transfer the photos from my new phone to the laptop to upload them. Have finally managed it by bluetoothing to my old phone and transferring them that way. This is £5 hard-earned!

I did but some very cute little leggings in H&M. I've been looking for some neutral ones for ages and these are really nice, with feet as well so won't have to worry about socks!

Back in a bit when I've finished MS report x x

    Hello, I'm back!

    Hospital bag issues...

I had about 5 different lists open for advice when creating mine. It does seem like quite a lot, but most of it is small stuff. I don't think I have really packed much for me. I am hoping to only be in for 1 night, but so many people on here have said "take a few nightdresses as you will be bleeding heavily" etc. So even if only in for 1 night, it's made me think I need to pack extra IYSWIM. I would not have thought I needed 20 maternity pads, but all lists seem to advise at least 2 packets (and that takes up half your bag ladies).

Sami said she packed less, but then she was having a home birth too, so I am sure her bag would be less as she would be planning to labour at home in the first instance.

Also, for babies, I have no idea how many times they will need changed! I was just packing 2 muslin cloths which I would have used as bibs, but then Glam said that Jack kept peeing or being sick (can't remember which) and that she needed lots more bibs and scratch mits! Everyone who has had babies has their own opinion based on what their circumstances were previously, but this is different for everyone, so it's difficult to know what is standard.

Other considerations were - if leaving it to DH to bring in extra stuff, can he get in at anytime? Some people have said that after the birth, the visiting hours are quite limited.
I have never been in hospital overnight before. I don't even know if they have hairdryers and hadn't thought about towels until I read it on here! :o

Not sure about a hairdryer fitz. Can't see that they would have one, that it would be appreciated you using one if other people or babies were trying to sleep or if you would have time to do anything with your hair if baby needed you. Mind you, OH would prob have baby. (sorry thinking from my perspective again).

I've packed make-up as I didn't think it would be fair to scare anyone who was kind enough to come visit but hadn't even thought about hair beyond having a clip to tie it back.

One option might be to pack a second bag with the extra stuff that you might need for a longer than normal stay, and leave it with someone that you know will be visiting you when you are in hospital (eg your mum). If the stuff is at her house already and she will be coming in to see you, then its not inconveniencing her to bring it in. There doesn't tend to be a lot of room to store stuff in hospital, so you might find a large bag of stuff to be a real encumbrance especially if you end up not needing half of it. If you split it into two, then your mum could take the stuff you needed for labour and any dirty clothes you used in the first 24 hours home with her when she brings the clean stuff in, and you'd also have less to struggle home with, when you'll already be wrestling with baby in a car seat which won't leave you a lot of scope to carry much else!

I have been in hospital a number of times and have never seen a hairdryer:confused: I imagine it would disturb other patients and babies? :confused:Its a long way off for me yet (17 weeks) but i am not a cream and lotions hair products girl so i am just taking the basics. I am hoping not to be in long anyway - if at all;) I am going to go on bag size - lol. Get as much as i can into the bags i have :money:and hope for the best as oh dosent know the names of things - yet:D

When my friend was in hosp she ran out of baby grows so i just toddled off the the shower room and washed them and stuck them on the bottom of the bed to dry - very nice midwives though i doubt everyone could get away with doing it:confused:
