Jillie, she's been abit quieter than normal, like she's thinking about things but on the whole she's doing well. Children are so resiliant though arn't they, they are often much better at coping with grief than us adults!

gymfiend don't feel guilty, they will always try and talk u into bf'ing especially if it your first, but if you don't want to then stuff em.

If you want to do it til u go back to work then it won't confuse baby or anything so just o what feels right for you

    Lovely bump SJ :)

I know there are a lot of pro's to breastfeeding, just feel so uncertain, like my life's been turned upside down as I'd a/ not really expected to get pregnant (because of said tumour) and b/ not really expected to lose my contract at such a bad moment! Will think on it, maybe I'm taking what the midwife said to heart too much...

On a brighter note - how gorgeous is this - trying very hard to justify buying it :o

Gisi, while your around..your at the same stage as me..have you been having any period like cramps low down lately? Just wondering cos I have had alot and it gets worse when I gently push down at the top of my bump, like over my ribs! Ive been told (not by a midwife) that the acheing is probably baby moving down abit more, his head snuggling into my pelvis.

  • Gymfiend, if it helps;
With my dd I fully intended to bf, but we actually really struggled and after many tears I gave up after about a month. I really felt bullied by the midwives and hvs at the time and I felt really awful and guilty. DD is now nearly 4 and it doesn't seem to have affected her at all. This time I will try to bf, but if it doesn't work out I will switch to formula - I think it is more healthy to be able to enjoy the time with your new baby than be stressed out for whatever reason. If you want to bf initially and then switch, fine. Likewise if you don't, that's ok - this is YOUR body and YOUR baby, don't feel guilty.
Edited to add; might be wise to not make up your mind yet, you've got a while yet - see how you feel.
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)

    Hi ladies,

I know this might seem a silly question but wondering if anyone else felt so unsure early on too...the midwife's asked me a couple of times about breastfeeding, and I said I don't think I want to. Now, the reason for it is that I've recently lost a contract I was working on so money's tight, I'm job hunting at the minute but think I won't be able to take off more than 6-8 weeks after the baby arrives, so didn't want to start breastfeeding just to switch to bottles so quick iykwim? The midwife made me feel really awful about it, as if I was starving my baby of a good start in life...does anyone else feel like this, guilty for thinking about bottle feeding? :/ Hope I don't sound horrid!

I'd say the same as people above, if the main reason you are thinking of not doing it is beacuse you can only (possibly) do it for a few weeks then it would still be worth it for baby. Obviously you take your other reasons into account and if you decide not then that's exactly it, YOU have decided not to because it's your choice to make.

Personally I want to BF and will be disappointed if I can't for any reason but it isn't the end of the world.
    Lovely bump piccy SJ!
    Thanks!!

Kindof - Fab scan pics!! Glad everything went well for you. I cried at my scans when I found out everything was ok!

EA that's rubbish news about your friend. Hope she is ok.

Lou that link was amazing! Can't believe that 5 year old had a baby! Crazy, and not in a good way.

JHA nice to see you again. Sorry you're not feeling too good. Hope the sitting down problems ease off soon.

I've been round to mum's tonight whaich was nice. Just chilling on the sofa now and trying to stay off Blooming Marvellous!!

Really annoyed though - got home and opened post and got the credit agreement for my new bed I ordered the other day. It's on buy now pay in 6 months so I've already paid 20% depositn which is fine, but reading the small print, if I don;t take out the monthly credit repayments after the 6 months (at 29% apr - no thanks!) and I want to pay it off in 1 go - which was the whole point of doing it - there's an early repayment charge! Except I can't work out how much it is cos it's really badly worded. Not impressed though!
