Hi ladies,
Gonna come out of hiding now and ask to be put on the listHad my 12 week scan on Tuesday and looked bang on for dates, so our little one should be making an appearance on March 9th!
Kindof - those pics are lovely, ours are a bit weird as you can't see any leg, I actually asked the sonographer to clarify that there were two legs, so she turned it around somehow to show me!!!
On the buying front, I've probably been a bit naughty! Got a couple of grobags when they were cheap in Tesco's the other day, plus goodness knows how many packs of newborn nappies (they were reduced in a local Sainsburys from £4 odd to 97p - my mum went mad, we've enough to sort out quadruplets never mind my one!). Then after the scan OH and I went to Mothercare and bought baby a present each, he picked a little sheep teddy and I picked a gorgeous Myleene Klass romper, it's lovelyOoh and a pack of bibs...that's it though, no more buying til we hit 20 weeks..or so I say now anyway!!
I know this might seem a silly question but wondering if anyone else felt so unsure early on too...the midwife's asked me a couple of times about breastfeeding, and I said I don't think I want to. Now, the reason for it is that I've recently lost a contract I was working on so money's tight, I'm job hunting at the minute but think I won't be able to take off more than 6-8 weeks after the baby arrives, so didn't want to start breastfeeding just to switch to bottles so quick iykwim? The midwife made me feel really awful about it, as if I was starving my baby of a good start in life...does anyone else feel like this, guilty for thinking about bottle feeding?Hope I don't sound horrid!
Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -

although iknow that this is to be covered at the next parentcraft class, what if i hadnt been going...
strange....
i know i want to b/feed though'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Welcome Gymfiend! Glad your scan went well.
On the BF question, I don't think anyone should ever feel guilty for their choices. A happy baby needs a happy mummy is my motto and you need to do what is right for you.
Just to add though that even if you only breastfeed for the first month or so your baby will still get lots of the most important antibodies from your milk during that time. Not trying to put pressure on you, but thought you might like to know.
I definitely want to give BF a go, but won't beat myself up if it doesn't work out for us.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Thanks Beenie, eek, how scary, I'm actually having a baby!
Jillie - it was mentioned to me the first time I saw her, 10 weeks I think I was? Then again I got it mentioned when I went to see my consultant (I have a type of tumour that might well make breastfeeding impossible anyway - which the midwife knew about, you'd think this would stop her going on!). It's really made me feel horrible, keep coming close to tears thinking that she must think I'm some mean horrible person who doesn't care about my childBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
Ok, just catching up and Beenie reminded me I haven't posted my bump pic - I did try but the memory card wasn't registering in my laptop the other night!
Here you go anyway..... 15 weeks ....0 -

You know you will actually save more money if you breastfeed. Also you don't have to be there all the time to breastfeed, plenty of women express while at work and store it for baby. Your work should provide you with a room to do this. Also the milk you give baby in those first few weeks even if you don't continue afterwards is really beneficial. There probably wont be any problem with swoping after a few weeks to a bottle. It's up to you but if you have never tried breastfeeding it might be worth trying just to see if you can. But just so you know plenty of people don't breastfeed so you shouldn't feel that you have to.Mum to DD born Oct 2009
