Hi all, sneaking back from Parents Club with a quick question for you as it was suggested some of you may be able to help.
I have a Masonic Ladies night to go to in October. I did have a dress that would have been ok until bump appeared. So I dont really want to spend loads on a new dress but obviously need to get another one. Dont know how long to leave it before I buy one as not sure how big bump will be by then. Any ideas of where to get one from or have you any experience of going to a 'do' at 7 months preg?
PS dont post on here much as cant keep up with other thread let alone this one as well !!Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
Hi Maz, I'm going to a wedding when I'll be 33 weeks and I actually borrowed a dress off my sister which isn't maternity but is emperor line and a size bigger than I normally buy and looks great. Can't remember where it was from though. A few people have said it depends if you need to cover your ankles or not due to swelling.

Hi Maz,
I went to a wedding last month at 7/8 months pregnant. As Jenny said, I ended up buying a top and linen trousers as my legs/ankles were so swollen I would have looked horrible in a dress! I think the top was from Blooming Marvellous, and they had it in a dress version which someone else on here bought too (can't remember who), but they seem to have new stock in now. The prices are quite reasonable though.
Not sure how posh your do is? If you wanted an Isabella Oliver dress or something like that, people have been picking them up on Ebay at a fraction of the cost. And I tried on a lovely black dress in New Look for under £30 which I would have bought if it wasn't for the swelling. It was a really nice flattering fit, and not too dressy.

Just in case everyone has gone hand expressing mad, Elle also posted this (but since Glam is out for lunch, I thought I would post it over here)....
Elle_gee quote:
"Glam, also whilst you're all talking about it, have you mentioned some women are told to not even attempt handexpressing (prebirth)? Make sure everyone knows to check with their midwife first.. I think it's the ones with placenta problems who shouldn't try it, but always best to ask (and then ask again!)"

Hi Maz, i went to an evening wedding doo on saturday at 36 weeks. I wore a black empire line dress i bought for £20.00 in TK Maxx. It is non-maternity and in my usual size 8. But is very stretchy.
I would also take a look at asos.com, they have some lovely maternity dresses and not too expensive really.0 -
I am starting to worry about Squishy. She hasn't been on for a while and had been in for monitoring a couple of weeks ago. She finished up work the same day as me so I would have thought she would have been on here by now.
Squishy - if you are lurking, give us a wave! Hope all is well.
Right, off to the shops now. Grudging buying any more maternity clothes at this late stage, but feel like I don't want to leave the house as I only have about 3 tops suitable, so no point in being miserable and living like a hermit! I have also borrowed braces from my dad as none of my trousers stay up!! It's been really stressing me out. Can't wait until it's over! x0 -

I just saw this on asos.com http://www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Maternity-Exclusive-Wrap-Front-Maxi-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=773223&cid=5813&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Electronica
Nice and it comes in black or purple and is only £35 so won't break the bank.
They have other nice stuff on there too! Good luck finding something!0 -

I'm off to a wedding on Sat at 31+4 and got a Monsoon dress in the sale, one size bigger than normal - it is sort of empire line and just about fits! However I thought I'd have a peek at ASOS today and they have quite a few dresses in the clearance maternity section starting at about £12 with P&P £3.95 standard so still under £20, I was tempted by a few, but restrained myself as thought it wouldn't get to me in time0
