Re the hand expressing, won't that just get rid of the colostrum that comes first, before milk actually comes in? I thought colostrum was the most important part for newborn

Um not sure, she did say if you do get anything out then you can store it and freeze it and bring it in with you and they can give it to baby.

Some people leak colostrum during pregnancy anyway so wouldn't have thought it was an issue - I'll go and ask our resident expert Krystal........

    Morning ladies!

Jolene - sorry you are feeling rubbish with morning sickness. I did't have it at all (so feel really lucky!) but things that people say help are - ginger (could try capsules etc if you don't like biscuits), flat lemonade, travel sickness wrist bands, dry biscuits/toast/crackers or smelling freshly cut lemons. No idea what will work for you!

Appts - I am still every 2 weeks, and glad the rest of you are too. A few people have said to me "I would have thought you were every week by now", and that was a couple of weeks ago. My mw said she just does what she wants and doesn't follow the guidelines exactly so wasn't sure if it was the same for others. I don't have any concerns anyway, was just wondering.

Kindof - good luck for your scan later! Don't be worried. It will be exciting and your OH will love it.

Xmas - I wouldn't eat a rare steak, but would have it medium, but it's up to everyone individually! You don't have long to go, so if you aren't sure, you do what you want to do! I am still avoiding peanuts at OH's request and would love some but can manage without. Have eaten soft eggs and sushi etc though.

WM - why don't you change your induction date to coincide with their holidays, therefore avoiding the hassle of them altogether! Particularly since they were rubbish when your OH was in hospital!! Still to have another debate with DH about visitors soon after baby is born. If everything goes smoothly and I am only in hospital overnight, then I don't see the point in his family trooping in - they could wait 1 day and it until we get home and it would still look like a newborn! My family won't mind, but he won't want to say no to his mum!

What's everyone got planned for today?

Working at home today - last day tomorrow - so am just tying a few loose ends...

This afternoon I've got my reflexology appt (been going since 35 weeks - will start to go into a 'moving things along' phase on due date - she's had a woman go into labour in the chair!!) I find it deeply relaxing and Cub seems to like it too.

Other than that - a cheeky maccy d's, a couple of naps and murder she wrote! Am also washing a load of mat clothes as we have an NCT sale coming up. Planning to sell a load of stuff there.

I asked for a form 24+6 ad she wouldnt give it to me she said they are not allowed to until we are 25wks+. but may be worth asking yours i suppose it would depend on the midwife.

Cant help with ribs but i suppose the break could be causing some discomfort if its the same one :-)

Glam, I think it's that your actual milk doesn't come in until about three days after the birth - your body needs the signal from the placenta becoming detached that the pregnancy is over and "okay, we need the milk now!". While the placenta is still there and in tact, you are making colostrum continually so you can express some of that to practice and you won't be using up everything you've got as it's still being made cos the placenta is still there. Incidentially, it might take longer for milk to come in with a c-section because the placenta is removed quickly, rather than detaching gradually with a natural birth so it has longer to release the "I'm off now, milk in you come!" type messages..

Does that make any sense whatsoever? ;)

Oooh, good luck with your last day tomorrow ML. It's nice to be finished up.
I wanted to be kept up to date with stuff, but I keep getting texts from people at work telling me X did this and X did that! Things then start to annoy me as I would want to deal with it but can't so trying to ignore them so I don't get stressed thinking about it. It's nice to think "I don't have to care about this for a while!".
Putting me in the mood for a McDs now, but will just go and have some porridge instead!

Lou - I would mention your rib pain to the mw. You can get discomfort in your ribs, but pain is probably not normal at that stage so might be because of your broken rib. No harm in mentioning though.

I think I got my HIPG form at 28 weeks appointment as they wouldn't give it out before 25 weeks and my previous appointment was 22 weeks.

I am going to wash some more baby clothes today and then go shopping to buy a couple of long vests/tops and some RLT capsules (if I remember)!
