"What will be interesting is whether Tesco reduces the redemptions available. Points schemes are notoriously untransparent, so it would be quite easy to double the amount you earn, but at the same time half the amount you can get."

I'm cynical. I expect them to take a leaf out of the Bank of Englands book to create inflation.
Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker
  • I change my points to Airmiles as soon as the vouchers drop on my doormat. They are all stashed away safely on my Airmiles account ready for me when i want to change them.

This just spells out good news for me! :T

It's all a saving anyway, and something for nothing is got to be a good thing. You all seem to be blaming Tesco's, but as Fire Fox rightly pionts out, this is probably not down to Tesco's. Virgin and Comos have more than likely capped the amount themselves.

what is the best deal/ using your vouchers for cosmos/virgin or changing them into airmiles , i can never work it out
i will hopefully have about £310 unconverted ( thats if i get the points from the o2 promotion?) might get 1 week away?
i would like to have saved them for a 2 week break but because of the new rules i will have to book before 1/9 otherwise i don't think it is worth it
    any suggestions

I am constantly surprised at the hostility Tesco's most loyal customers have towards them. If you don't like the prices or the loyalty scheme (bearing in mind no other supermarket offers anything like the value that CC already does), don't shop there!

I basically agree, but am arriving at this from a different angle. I like what I can get (or could get) with Tesco Clubcard which is why I did most of my shopping there, as well as wine orders with good points deals. I generally prefer to go shopping in Sainsbury's or Morrison's. I can see my shopping in Tesco dropping significantly as a result of changes to the Clubcard deals/rewards, if the rewards are of little appeal to me.

erm... At £1 for a packet of stock cubes couldn't you still buy them if the soup you made was so economical? I don't think you can blame Tesco for you stopping making soup.

It becomes less economical when just one of the ingredients goes up TEN times..I dont blame Tescos for my stopping making soup, I just blame them for the massive price hike of 1000 per cent ( sorry if my maths is wrong on this). My stopping buying the stock cubes is my way of saying NO to Tescos. ( I cant refuse to shop there as it is the only place except M&S local. I don't drive and cannot afford to eat at M&S prices.)

I admit I can rarely use my clubcard points these days as they don't give you them in quantities small enough to use. I very rarely spend as much as £5 in one go which means that the points i do get are unable to be used by me.They give them to us in £5 plus amounts.

I don't have a family to go to theme parks or go on holidays so cant use them for any of the deals either... :(

Absolutely right - if Tesco are making a poor decision and people stop shopping there then they'll realise. What makes my blood boil (alongside those who call it Tesco's!) is the people who continue to shop there week on week but apparently despise them as a company!

    Tesco's Tesco's Tesco's :rotfl: is your blood boiling :D

I'm sure there must be something they offer that you could use, but if not what about petrol? Or something like mobile phone credit?
But if you're not going to use them otherwise, why not go into Tesco and treat yourself to something for a fiver? A big fat chocolate cake comes to my mind!

I bought some odds and ends this morning, and for once took the trouble to look at the points. Sure enough my £20 spend with my Clubcard+ got me 40 points + 20 "new extra points". So OK there.

I usually fill the car up at Tesco, never bothered in the past to look at how many points I was getting, I always assumed it was double on Clubcard+. When I did so today I noticed that I only got single points. I assume that the new scheme doesn't apply to fuel, but has the Clubcard+ never given 2 points per £?

Just goes to show you shouldn't assume things - I could probably have got my fuel cheaper elsewhere all these years!
