they really do need to give plenty of notice if they change the rewards...otherwise they will be ripping us off:mad:
If they do that it's likely a lot of people will shop elsewhere. The outreach of this site alone (and therefore the impact of any backlash) would probably be enough to prevent Tesco actually acting on the "we reserve the right to withdraw offers without notice" term for Deals.

The double deal (Exchange £5.00 for a £10.00 deal instore for wine, garden, clothing etc) is finishing on 30th September, according to a poster in my Tesco.

Have just checked the new rewards booklet and there is no mention of double up in store finishing, [although I am sure that I saw the Sept date displayed in our store when it first started]. According to the book you can double up either in store online or by post.
  • The Telegraph are correct - this initiative is all to do with artificially 'inflating' their turnover figures. Of the Big 4, Tesco are miles behind the others on growth. Granted, they are still almost twice as big as their nearest rival in terms of market share but the recent figures must be a worry for Leahy. When you are top dog there's only one way to go. Personally, I think initiatives like this are merely papering over the cracks. Tesco has gotten far too expensive and even its most loyal customers are beginning to realise that.

I'm really concerned. I've saved £2500 worth of points so far for a Virgin Holiday in the Maldives, for early next year, and now I find out that I'll only be able to use £2100 (me, OH and daughter) worth from 1st September and yet their site will only let me book until the end of this year.....

Not sure what to do now, especially as there's a high chance of my points devalueing too. Any advice?

Double up on wine is continuing indefinitely. The remainder are due to end in September I think, but I bet Tesco will be keeping an eagle eye on what is making and losing money and pull the deals that suit.

I defected from Tesco at New Year as the prices were way ahead of Asda and the Clubcard just wasn't enough of an incentive. I have been back to double-up on wine and, of course, used my Clubcard conditional spends on groceries at at the same time. I am sure millions have done the same so they know they can reel us back in with this new deal.

Clubcard Plus will be 2 points + 1 bonus (3 points per pound).
Customer service staff in store will be provided with the official Q&A sheet to help customers with questions.

Hi, I'd double check with Virgin if you can't see the holiday you want online and you're ready to book, as their 2010 dates for Maldives do seem to be out, I looked at Feb dates out of LHR.

Cheers. Site seems to working ok now. I'm gutted about the £700 limit though if I book after 1st September.

I read a similar article in the Daily Mail...I didn't realise Tesco were struggling in respects to other supermarkets. Hopefully this means they won't risk enraging their existing clubcard customers by changing the prices of deals. I just hope that if/when they do change the deals they give plenty of notice, despite their terms saying they can withdraw the offers without giving notice.

Tesco are by no means struggling. Other supermarkets have some good offers that attract people, and I'll be the first to admit that some of the guys at head office need their heads checked when it comes to some of the offers they come up with. Tesco's sales are up 4.2% ( I might have slightly incorrect figures) whereas Asda is up 7%, but bear in mind that Tesco have just over double the market share that Asda has, so needs to take a lot more money to have a comparable increase.

Tesco can also be a victim of their own success.
Last year we had an offer on Minute Maid - BOGOF. This was cancelled after 3 days because the manufacturer just couldn't keep up with the demand due to the fact that so many customers come into Tesco.

One month later, Morrissons had the exact same offer, but could sustain it for the whole period of the offer, because the demand in their stores wasn't so high and the manufacturer could keep up with it.

From 1st September Cosmos now only allow £400.00 in vouchers per person, to me this means your probably better searching for a cheaper holiday elswhere, we had been saving clubacrd vouchers to use on a 2010 holiday looks likeI`ll have to rethink our strategy.
