After the 20 Miles , the odo had increased by exactly 40 !
So just need to divide by 2 to give mileage covered.
    ..

Have now done just over 100 miles on it (odo reading 200)

Is this legal? What about if/when you come to sell it? Do you say to the buyer, "I know it says it's done 20k miles, but it's really only done 10k". Buyers may be sceptical.

I wonder if having an inaccurate odometer is legal?

The odo part is in KM's as are 99% of imported scooters but its obviously out, as is the speedo, have posted a comment about this on expansys forum. will see if they offer a solution.

I don't think expansys will consider it their problem; the scooter passed the EEC certification so I guess it must be in tolerance.
They only have 8 more to sell & that's it for them with electric bikes for the time being.
At least it will be hard to break many speed limits going much slower than what the speedo indicates.
Agree about the kilometer reading showing too high, best thing to explain to any purchaser is that if it was in miles it would be much less.

At £406 delivered it's still very good value.

Well I've got an electric scooter, very similar to the one discussed here.
    Yes, it's Chinese.
Yes, lots of the screws and bolts were little more than finger tight.
Yes, the wiring and connectors weren't really up to the job.

BUT, if you've got a little mechanical ability then you can do the quality checks that were never done in the factory. If you can't handle a spanner and screwdriver then this product is probably not for you.

With a little knowledge you can actually do quite a lot with one of these. The large batteries in the Expansys one makes it difficult to add extra batteries but since many only paid £399 for the whole bike I wouldn't worry too much about the cost of replacing them.
When I bought mine (for a lot more than £399 I might add) it was very slow and underpowered. With a few modifications I've now got a bike that's fast enough to keep up with urban traffic and can pull me up just about any hill at a good speed. In it's current configuration it will easily reach 45mph (GPS speed) and if I turn the power up to full it will almost pull your arms off when pulling away. Faster than any 50cc bike I've seen restricted or derestricted.
  • strap a hairdryer to your good old fashioned pedal bike and you will still go faster and save the planet even more! (not to mention saving your pride and £399)

I can cycle 30mph on a good racing bike and 400 would probably buy a decent one

Price just gone back to £399; that is so tempting.
I did try to order 2 of these but somehow my credit card payment got screwed up and the order wasn't placed, then I went out and got a petrol scooter instead. If I could easily run 2 scooters on one insurance policy I would still be tempted! Quite scary though that the couriers seem to be delivering without a tail lift! I dread to think what 'elf and safety would say about that!
Still an interesting concept and I'll look at the EScooter market again when I need a new scooter; I'll be surprised though if they are as cheap as this again!
