Card? The email I received wasn't about a mailing with a card in it although there is a connection to a card.

Earlier in the week, I did receive a C5 mailing with a folded A4 piece of plain card inside with the normal type letter and transponder with return envelope.

Oops, looks as though I have confused a normal receipt with the item you are all mentioning but I have never received a letter before with a piece of folded card inside.
I have neither received a transponder or the email in the way you all mention - perhaps it was only being sent to a selected few.

Me neither. Which was why I wondered whether it was what you had received. Using card is more like TNS.

I think this is the first time we have had something negative to say about their organisational skills (ie that we had received the mailed item before receiving notification about it). However it may not have been their fault so much as the sender organisation who perhaps processed the batch earlier than expected. I guess we will never know!
