New Look just e-mailed, then called me and said there is a change of plan and instead of Bristol, they are filming in London and could I come there instead as they want to feature me.
I am flattered, but there is NO way I can afford to get up to London, nor would I have anywhere to stay.
    I'm suprisingly gutted :o

Oh what a shame. Have you looked at National Express 'cos they're doing fares from £1 and Bristol is one of their pick-ups.

Bronnie, that dress is absolutely stunning but I agree with Lostinrates, if you aren't overly excited about a bag that costs £22 couldn't you make do with one already in your (or your daughter's) wardrobe?

I'm obesessed with dummies and mannequins - I've a full sized male and female one for my eBay shop, my vintage Parisian one in the bedroom and two dressmaker's dummies - I bought one off eBay for dressmaking/alteration and the other was given to me by a kind neighbour, she's currently in the hallway draped with a vintage Union Jack!

    Thanks for the advice girlies,
travel expenses not an option but the lady, who is very nice said Bristol will probably be coming up in the (nearish) future and they def want me to be involved then, and have also made me send them so outfit photos so they can keep me in mind for anything that comes up :o
    so not allll bad!
Sounds lame, but I don't think travelling to London would help my nerves at all :p I hate trains, and coaches. I'm a err..nervous traveller.

Hi Glowgirl it's not a silly question and if you search on eBay you get all manner of stuff!
A mannequin should be those poseable, model-like items you see in shop windows complete with heads and hair wheras a dummy is an adjustable torso, without legs and on a stand.
If you do see a shop window mannequin at a car boot you should definately buy it (if you've got suitable transport) - good ones retail at over £500 and they command at least £50 on eBay.

    Thanks for the advice girlies,....

Not at all. I understand because I have long term illhealth too. (hnce being virtual recluse in SW where as once was social butterfly workaholic. ;))

The horrid thing with the stamin debilitating thing is pushing them the right amount...just eniugh to feel stretched a bit but still alive. Too much and your health takes a huge backwards leap...not enough, and IME, it retreats a little too. Just enough sees gradual imrovements..but just enough changes, doesn't it?

    Take care daisybella.

I see a lot of mannequins in my local car boot every week usually about £10 is that unusual? Also if you happen to have a QDs near you they have wire ones in black or white for £20, I have one in my dressing room with loads of fairy lights wrapped round it:)

What's QDs, glowgirl? I have a mini white wire one I use to hang my necklaces on. I actually want a dressmakers' dummy, as explained by goanmad! The one on her blog is exactly what I want, I've been searching for years. Will have to keep an eye on skips as I trundle home from the pub! :)

Also, goanmad I've answered your question on my blog but just in case you didn't see it, the brooch is from a company called Helpless Romantic. One of the perks of being an (ex) jewellery design is the gorgeous freebies you get from talented friends! :)

PS - New blog post up now!

Thanks all for your advice re the clutch bag girls.

goanmad, for once, have got a real plan for how I want this outfit to look and DD and I between us haven't got just the size of evening bag I want! Planning a new half up-do for my hair, (which is now just about long enough , having been short for years) and I've never worn a style like that before!!!! So am having fun with this one.

Glow girl thanks for the link, usually do well with River Island for bags, there's a cute grey fringed one , but not quite right:rolleyes:

Alex, I LOVE that beaded bag, again not quite right with the shoes I'm planning to wear, which have a platform and chunkyish heel . (Would go beautifully with some kitten heel mules I've got though;)) For the same reason, having thought about it, the Monsoon one I was being pushed into today is not suitable either.

You're right too, black is out, as is colour. A toning metallic is the way to go!

Have SEARCHED EVERYWHERE tonight with very little success, til I remembered my old friend Next! Have found these two, they are both a really good size and price.

Popping to town to see if they're instore this morning to have a proper look .....and taking the dress too to match up , thanks LIR!
