Pashminas are such a lifesaver in this weather, I keep one in my bag for wrapping around me under my coat if I'm somewhere cold (not that I go anywhere much!)

This is the dress I got, though I might send it straight back as I'm feeling insanely guilty now :o

  • That's lovely! For £10 as well, it's a bargain, I'd keep it! Sorry, probably not helping matters!

Thanks lostinrates and daisybella! It's just so hard to know what to wear, we could have a mild winter, it could be sub zero from now until March. And you're so right lostinrates, I hate that blast of hot hair you get when you open a shop door, it's like it strips my face of any moisture and leave my lips so dry!

I think I'll go for layers and length, we're going to be doing sightseeing, mum and dad have just moved to the area so it'll be nice for them to see London town. I'll probably go for a long vest with a long jumper. I need to get a nice jacquard pashmina, I had one years ago but it got lost when I moved.

I'm having a couple of days in London between Christmas and New Year to see some theatre and do some sightseeing and I'm working on the layers and length principle too :) I'm hoping to take as little as possible with me so it's likely to be jeans and boots for both days and then vests/jumpers/cardis. I don't travel anywhere without a pashmina - they're so useful for warmth/using as a makeshift pillow/zinging up a plain outfit a bit.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Right, I've got my belt. :)

I bargained it down a little so it was under £20 but....not sure its as nice as I remember it.

Oh well, if I find something I like better I'll replace it ...

Well done, Lostinrates! :T Have you tried it with the Mexican nightdress yet?

Bronnie - What a shame about the beret. Have you got an Oasis nearby?

The only things I've ever bought from New Look are a couple of pairs of leggings (in the sale) and a brand new red frilly bikini from a charity shop. When I went to the counter with my leggings the (male) SA looked me up and down and said "You look more like a TopShop girl to me." Strange.

Goan- in my town, NewLook is the ONLY clothes shop, so I've always had a lot of stuff from there (used thus used to resent it a lot)
Now, I find myself buying more from there than anywhere else! There is a huge on in Bristol and I've found the quality and fit better than that of topshop (for me, personally) and a lot more within my price range.

Even when I do have money, I always find myself gravitating back there!

Bearing in mind, the price charity shops charge around here, New Look is always the cheapest option for me!

I like New Look (so much I used to work there, but ended up not actually bringing any money home!), I think the quality and fit is usually spot on AND they do Tall which always gets brownie points.
That dress will look perfect on you for Christmas day, I think you should definitely keep it if you can.
I went Christmas shopping in Chester today, picked up a couple more presents and stocking stuff for my girls from Claire's (lots of stuff down to £1 from about £4) and all the shops were uncharacteristically freezing! I wore -

    black LTS skinnies (CS £3.50)
black and purple striped tunic top (Primark £5)
    black wool cardi-coat (me-made)
black suede fringed moccasin boots (New Look sale £10)
black with multicoloured flecks crocheted hat (me-made, wool from CS about £1)
black irridescent butterfly brooch on hat (craft fair £2.50)
black multi leopard scarf (Primark £3)

I'm going in for some serious chilling tonight!
