Welcome Zara-Elise. I'm not a hardcore fashionista (yet!) but I love this thread and the ladies are all so helpful and lovely.

Ahh thanks! I'm not as hardcore as I would love to be, but I don't have enough cash right now, have been scouring the charity shops and have managed to find a few bargains (oasis dress for £10, Balenciaga bag for £15 etc)

Oh and is this the top? It's gorgeous, I love nudes and lace, it's a completely winning combination!

Ooh cute top Daisy. I am hopeless at imagining outfits though - any chance you could try it on and post a pic on your blog or on here so we can see it?

Shall I fess up to my fairly dull Christmas clothing purchase? Ok, my name is Alex and I'm a jumperaholic. So I've bought a longish fitted cosy pale grey jumper, even though it's incredibly plain and looks a bit like school uniform :o I like comfort at Christmas and we always just have a quiet family day so I don't really bother dressing up. To be worn with either new jeans or black leggings and some silver jewellery. Please don't mock me for being dull!

I think it's entirely possible to wear what seems like very simple outfit and totally shine. Sometimes it's then a case of you wearing the clothes rather than the clothes wearing you IYKWIM. All that's needed to complete the look is one individual/quirky touch with hair, accessories jewellery etc.
    Less can be more, definitely!

Thanks for the feedback re the beret! Ordered. Code from the vouchers board ("christmasgift") for free del, saved me £3.95 and a trip to town. There's a 20% off code there too but I couldn't get them to work together!

goan...hope you can resolve the flight dilemma
lir..............you obviously really wanted that belt!
    Hi zara elise and welcome!

vikki...........inspired!...... the "when I've made an effort" idea. You should do it!

Vicki- thanks, your such a doll,
I love the sound of your outfit, and well, I now how even more reason to facebook stalk you ;)

Glad the xmas do was good,
I "accidentally" missed the one at work...I mean, they wanted us to pay for a heat from frozen meal, and NO wine.
  • Just spent an enjoyable 15 minutes catching up. Have been so busy recently I haven't had chance to get in with an update!

Belts - I'm such a fan. I wear one almost every day because I think they add so much shape to clothing. Comfort is a real issue for me as I sit at a desk all day, so I always choose elasticated styles, usually in leather or suede so they're a bit softer. Also, never, EVER wear it too tights - it'll look and feel awful!

Daisy - I love the lace and like the way you're thinking of styling it... If you're worried about it gaping or looking baggy, why not layer up a bit more underneath? Instead of a vest, what about a thicker long sleeved tee, or a woolly polo neck? It'll give you the extra thickness to make the top hang better and also keep you warm!

Also, I'm in love with that fuzzy beret Bronnie - will be snaffling it for myself when I get paid! :)

    Today's outfit is:

    Black pinafore dress
    Berry coloured polo neck
    Black tights
    Black knee high socks
    Chain print silk scarf
    Velvet pumps
    Berry cocktail ring
    Gold bangles

    Happy Wednesday!

GG- thanks hun, I think I'm being hyper sensitive at the moment, christmas stresses me out, and I just want it to be a good one for my family, which means less worrying for them about me for once :o I love the sound of a polo neck, though I don't own one haha, I do have a fine knit black long sleeve that might work, I'll try that later :)

Looks like a lot of us will be buying that fab hat come payday :D

Not dressed yet, but planned outfit is:

Dark was high waisted jeans, that actually sit nearer hips: New Look
3/4 sleeve navy and white striped thick cotton top: A-wear
    Faux fur gilet: Zara
    Heeled brogues: Debenhams

Probably not venturing out today, as I have no reason to, but if I do I'll be adding snood, gloves and bright pink coat.

    Morning ladies!

It's soooo old here and pouring down as well. I'm staying in and currently in the process of making a faux fur gillet from a piece of fabric Mum found in the loft - most of which was used to make me a pram coat when I was a baby - genuine 60's vintage!

Daisy - If that was me I'd wear that pretty vest over black hareems, shoeboots and a purple vest - not so much of a contrast in shades and the colour would "warm up" the complexion. Over the top I'd add a black sparkly tuxedo jacket (Internationale have them for about £15) and layer on the bangles, a statement collar necklace and chandelier earrings. Suitably over-the-top for Christmas!

    Today's outfit:
Red Chinese silk brocade smock reworked from a 1950's maternity dress (jumble sale)
    Black leggings
Black angora boyfriend cardi (originally Topshop but from a boot sale)
    Black shoe boots (Chazza shop)
Black faux jet chandelier earrings (Ex-accessorize via chazza shop)
Black plastic bangles (Mum's Biba originals)
    No rings as I'm sewing.

    Have a fun day!

Welcome...BUT...the thread is not about spending money, but living within our budgets: so it seems as if you are hardcore as anyone!
