Afternoon all!
Judgejaq - I'm in complete agreement with your sentiments.:T
Despite living less than 2 miles from Ikea we've probably got fewer than 10 items from there in the house. After our trip this morning I can remember why. I wanted some fabric but were there any scissors or an assistant in sight? No! We wandered the store for 20minutes seeking a worker. The phone rang on the counter and BF decided to answer it by saying "No, I don't work here but I've been standing here for so long I'm considering asking to be put on the payroll".
When we'd found assistance we discovered the fabric on display was no longer available and after we'd got home discovered the curtain hooks contained 9 instead of the 10 they were supposed to.......arghhh!
Never mind, I'm off to my friend's art exhibition opening night this evening, champers and canapes all round.
At the mo I'm wearing:
Denim leggings (market)
Grey skinny sweater with a long back and a lattice front (Sample)
Vintage wool check waistcoat (Chazza shop)
Bardot taupe platform boots (TopShop)
Silver tribal jewellery and rings (India)
Silver tassel earrings (Car Boot)
Vintage grey wool peaked cap (Chazza shop)
Tonight's (hand-made) outfit posted on my blog!
Enjoy your thursday!0 -
Well whooppee dooo!! Christmas has come early!
Trudged around town with my little bag of broken gold yesterday on an MSE information-gathering exercise, in the local pawnbrokers and a couple of jewellers and in the middle of the precinct at the Cash4Gold stand....!!! Have also been checking out sale prices of a couple of similar pieces on ebay and researching postal gold companies on here. Best combined total was £350 and the uncertain possibility of a little more on ebay for a couple of pieces.
Eventually heart-in-mouth posted off bits to Hatton Gold Metals by Special Delivery at 4pm yesterday....they were offering the best per gram price I could find at £8.40 per gram. At 2pm today received full payment of £605 into my bank.:T Well worth digging out those broken chains and odd earrings as the price of gold is still rising atm.
And I'm going to be a very good girl, resist the clothes shopping and use it to top up my ISA!!0 -
If anyone wants one of those sleeved blanket things I saw them in Primark in Liverpool the other week and I'm sure they were £8.99 or something, not much anyway.
Very boring today as I had a clothing crisis and not much time to get dressed!
black 'smart' trousers
black leather biker boots that I'm sure look awful with the trousers
multi / black striped jumper bought from a CS last week, originally DPs
and my (newly) trusty fake fur hooded jacket.
Tomorrow I'm going to stay with a friend in London overnight and I'm planning checking out the CSs near where she lives, very exciting! We're also going for a drool at Liberty.0 -
Scrap what I said about the weather behaving itself. Just as I got out of the car to go to the bank the heavens opened with a delightful combination of rain and hail. Brilliant.
In my lunch break I managed to buy gift tins for the bisuits I am planning on making for relatives for Xmas, and also order a few bits and peices that have been sat in my Amazon basket for a while. So one step closer to being almost, kind of, maybe organised for the big day itself!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -
Bronnie- excellent
Well, it brightened up here so I had a lovely stroll round to my grandparents (about 20 minutes away) and had coffee with them, and helped my Nan start sorting through her stash of recipes (we did three, out of twenty five folders in two hours!)
Have just been escorted home by my Grandad who still believes I am 5 years old and need supervising crossing a road
(partly true, my road sense is awful) and have enough homemade tomato and lentil soup to feed me for a week

Hi all! I'm having a rare quiet moment at work so thought I'd pop in earlier than usual!
The coffee maker I bought for OH arrived today... my God, it's gigantic! Really, it's huge. Where will it go?! I might have to relegate it to the cupboard as my kitchen surfaces are covered in vintage scales and pretty teacups!
Today's is:
Black skinny jeans
White printed tee
Grey long sleeved tee
Gold sequin waistcoat
Black velvet pumps
Gold bangle stack
Black cocktail ring
Hope you've all had a fab Thursday. TGIF tomorrow!0 -

Are you going to try and hide it?
Well, after the doctors (which was fine minerva, I hve to go weekly for monitoring:o;) for the medication I'm on, and the medication I'm not on for my nuerological thing, as I can't take both at sme time, so just get checked once a week to check I'm vaguely normal!) my mother and I went out...my mother had mentioned she might like a silver bangle as much as a gold one, and so we went to a silver shop where I saw a plate I quite liked and might get from my mother for Christmas (only I really like it, I don't LOVE it, and I just don't feel the need for a gift for a gifts sake). Anyway, to the point, working our way around the shop I found a cuff which had been hammered and really caught the light, and my mother loved it, so.....phew, the worrying gift is out of the way, (my the till there was a hammered ring, so she's got that too as a surprise).
Then one of our dogs to the vet. She's a dear, dear dog, three years old and such a kind steady person, but has lost a lot of weight and is being a bit anorexic at the moment. Her sister is a bit of a bully with a few nueroses, and we were concerned that the behaviour might have been as the result of her sister's bullying behaviour, but although her bloods ar enormal, she did have a litle blood in her wee.only tiny bit, so we MIHT have caught a pyometri early, or it might be something else.
She and the other two and I went to the horses together and she was loving running around like a loon, so hopefully she'll be on the mend soon.
Now, I'm going to have to go to a formal day time event soon, and I don't have a suit that fits, I have to look reasonably corporate and I don't want to spend a lot of money (I don't want to stay this size so in all likely hood I'll only wear something serious once). I do have a black wrap dresses I could wear with sheer tights and serious heels and minimal jewellery, for ''soft seriousness''...do we think this will suffice? If I have my serious curls blowdried straight for a touch less frivolousness? (I don't look like me with straight hair!) Everyone else is likely to be designer suits/rolexes and handmade shoes....:o0 -
Lost- I'm glad you got your Mum's present sorted, mine is a nightmare to buy for as I buy her so much throughout the year
and she's fussy, I end up getting everyone's presents for them to give her! This year I've done quite well for her, though she had a bad morning at work so I ended up giving her one of the presents early, oops! Worse as her birthday is 22nd Dec!
Poor dog, I hope she feels much better soon. I'm jealous you have horses, I loveeeeee them.
I think you can't go wrong with a classic black wrap dress with tights and heels, that sounds corporate and formal to me (though what do I know, I'm only 22, and have never had a real job)
Wow,
that was an epic reply lol.0 -
Alex, which dress did you decide on in the end? Did I miss that bit?? Enjoy your new outfit anyway!!
LIR love your advent good deed for the day idea, started today. People can become a bit aggressive at this time of year can't they?? I am trying to be especially nice to oldies!! (firm believer in what goes around comes around!!)
I'll post a pic of the outfit next week (not of me wearing it though!)
I spend my working life being polite and helpful and nice to our volunteers, all 280 of them! Does it count as an advent good deed if it's something I do anyway?
I did a 16 hour day yesterday *sigh* so am about as tired as an exceedingly tired thing. Couldn't even be bothered rifling through my wardrobe today so it's jeans, boots, vest top, hoody
lir - the wrap dress sounds perfect to me0 -
