GG I love that cute mustard beret!

Thank you! It's my favourite thrifted find, apart from the phone which I'm seriously in love with!

My official blog photographer (and bf!) is working late tonight so I might not be able to update today. My camera's self timer is broken and my arms just aren't long enough to take the picture myself! So here's mine for today:

    Light grey knitted jumper dress
    Black tee
    Black leggings
    Grey chunky knitted socks
    Grey waist belt
    Black suede pixie boots
    Silver coin necklace

Not very colourful... it is Monday after all! :)

Loving all the household items featured on the blogs - and how jammy are you all with second hand finds?!

Grammar Girl - I discovered about 3 of those coin necklaces in my box of jewellery inherited from my grandma :D Haven't quite worked out what to wear it with yet though!

Alex, coin necklaces look amazing with a plain tee and blazer type outfit, or a simple dress. I love them
actually, I have a coin pendant somewhere, might have to pop it on a chain when I'm next making some stuff :o

Not a good dressing day today :-(

I decided that I really must go clothes shopping. I own 2 pairs of trousers, grotty T shirts and 1 jumper. So I set off for our local shopping centre (Merry Hill) with good intentions. I was thinking boots, leggings, some nice, long tops and perhaps a cardie.

I don't know why I'm incapable of chooosing anything :-( I got new underwear and socks but no one sees those!

    :-(

Today I was wearing jeans, a grotty old T shirt and an army surplus camoflage jacket. I need Gok Wan!

Oh crumbs, I don't own any dresses (or skirts come to think of it). I can probably manage a tshirt and blazer though!

*scampers off to try things on*

    And there's more!

Its daft really - I feel if I really make an effort, people will notice and think I'm silly. For this reason I never wear any jewellery or anything out of my "uniform" of trousers and tops. :-(

Acey, don't despair. Some of the girls on here are better than Gok :D

Underwear and socks is a good start! Did you try any of the other things on? I don't know from your post whether it was a case of trying things on and not being able to choose whether you wanted them or not, or whether you didn't have the confidence to try them.

I'm sure people won't think you're silly for funking your outfits up a bit! Could you perhaps try some new style tops or the odd piece of jewellery, just to ease yourself in gently? Stick with the jeans if that's what you feel comfy in (god knows I rarely wear anything else) but some new simple tops and lovely winter cardis could make a world of difference.

I used to be like this up till a couple of years ago, and I eased in gradually. I think the first step I made was buying a plain dress and wearing that.
I also made a point to try things on in shops that I never usually would, and seek advice on what suited my shape etc.
    Confidence grows with experimentation.

Well then, I'd change slowly. Some more funky trosers and a funky top to start: no/few accesories. i love relaxed tweeds, or wide leg grey wool trousers: either would look good with a simple shirt and jumper: hardly ''dressed up'' yet could be uber stylish (thinking Katherine Hepburn, for example). Or jeans, that are cut well for you with a tunicy top, and maybe a bangle.

I think to start in a ''uniform'' of trousers and tops, and suddenly be fresh off the catwalk would unsetle anybody..and be a little confusing. Most of us use clothing as an expression of us, or perhaps a mask between us an the world, or perhaps both at the same time...so you need to find what is ''you'' in clothes, slowly, perhaps? Its ok to get it worng, BTW. And its also ok NOT to care if you don't, or to develop an interest. The most importnt thing is to be happy and confidnt in your turnout. :)

Acey, don't let other people determine what you wear. Wear what YOU feel good and beautiful and confident and fabulous in. If that is jeans and a t-shirt, so what! Make that your thing and pick out stylish t-shirts and figure flattering jeans.

And if you want to make the effort and wear a dress, do it! The first time will be the weirdest, because people will look at you and think 'hey, Acey's wearing a dress!' - but is that a bad thing? It's only because you look a little different. The next time you wear one, people will be saying 'hey, doesn't Acey look good in a dress?' :)
