daydreambeliever wrote: »Hi everyone :hello:
I've just found this thread and am finding it very useful as I've lost two stone and am starting to buy new clothes after only wearing what I could fit into for the past years.
I'm loving the coloured tights but have a question. I haven't worn dresses or tights for years but used to have problems with jersey type material clinging to the tights and riding up, how do you stop this?
Hi! Glad you've joined us!!
I mentioned slips before (not here on this thread) and it was suggested the idea was grannyish ......which is so not what I want to hear!
Years ago (and up to the 1970's and early 80's ,) everyone young and old wore slips, to make your clothes hang better. I haven't worn them for years myself, although spend most of my life in trousers:rolleyes:. However I have just been out this very morning and bought one to go under a silky dress to help me feel like I'm wearing a bit more!!.
Anti-cling slips (full length or waist) will be helpful but are more expensive, but even just the normal silky ones do the job with jersey dresses. You only need one as they can easily be rinsed out and dried overnight.
I don't think this looks grannyish!

M&S have got a similar one for £8 in lots of different lengths. They are reversible with a scooped or straight neckline that just looks like a cami, so also handy if you want something to cover up boobs a bit with a wrap dress.

You're too kind! I absolutely HATE taking the photos. My bf does it for me but I find it all so cringeworthy and embarrassing! Hence I often look away! He's always telling me to look at the camera but gah, it's awkward!0 -

Bronnie, I'm 30 and I wear slips. They can be granny-ish of course, (as can cardis and tights which all of us seem to wear to an ungranny-ish affect!), and yet they can also be deliciously seductive, and extremely useful! An alternative might be a satin-y camisole and french knickers: but slips do give a better line IMO, to those of us with stuff to gloss over! and nice underwear adds a spring to the step too.0

Phew! thanks LIR! I also remembered that that there are always lots of slips in the chazza shops.......mostly of the granny variety it has to be said, on the other hand if they're undercover and do the job it might not matter!
You also stand a good chance of finding a really good quality originally expensive heavy silk/satin one which would be fab for stopping clinging! They can easily be shortened with wunderweb or just chopped off without hemming if you're so inclined!!
Old-style glamourous grannies always kept a good-as-new set of lingerie , as a spare just-in-case set in the drawer, so if you don't mind previously-loved stuff, the charity shops are definitely worth a selective look!! And now I've reminded myself of this, will be on the lookout myself next week!!0 -

I hate taking photos too, I use a self timer. I feel so weird posting photos of myself even though I've been blogging for 18 months, as I have issues with how I look
but in a way, I've found it's actually built my confidence and self belief a little bit!0 -

I hope your confidence continues to grow, you have no need whatsoever to have any ''issues''.:) I've seen three of you bloggers i think, and you all look pretty good!
Right, today I had a bit of a tantrum with clothes. wore the too bg jeans with a green belt (the ones that fit and don't fall down when I walk feel too tight sitting down and because I can't feel my skin I risk damaging myself wthout realising, which from experience is nasty). And a black vest, and a balck cardi, and gold nikes. Accesorised with: my most swish sunglasses and very little make up. We walked the dog on the New Forest today, having had a disappointing house viewing. Dog-dog and a donkey ended up becoming great friends and had to phsyically restrain the donkey from trying to climb in the car to come with us (having followed us back to the car). Then had to stop DH encouraging the donkey to come home with us :rolleyes:0 -
inspired by you lovely bloggers on here i have invested in tights today that are not black:o petrol blueish colour and a cranberry colour.
also had success in charity shops (my favourite haunt) bought denim skirt, lovely grey m&s dress (both calling out for bright tights lol) and a chunky multi -coloured dotty p's necklace.. all for just over £10:j
todays outfit was
new look from top to toe
black leggings, green long vest, grey & white long shirt, navy knitted boyfriend cardi and silver flat t bar shoes..
wasn't too sure on outfit but was told by 13 yr old dd and her mate that i looked "well good" and followed by "mum can i borrow those tops next week"
felt praise from 2 x13 yr old was confirmation it was ok:oLead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0
