I've met my savings target today  I should be happy, it's a pretty massive achievement for me, but for whatever reason I don't feel as happy as I think I should. Anyway, that now means I have 10000 whole English pounds to spend on my house (or sell the damn thing and travel the world :D)

I need to save more though. My next savings target will be £5k, although my main target will be to pay off the credit card before the 0% deal runs out next February.

I've been really rubbish with my list this week, really need to get on with some stuff today. Own up, who's stolen my mojo?

Wow, Gwen, that is amazing news. Well done that is a huge amount to save up and you must be so pleased?!

Will you be able to start getting the work done on your house now? Or will you wait a while and work out what exactly needs doing and in what order?

    :j:j:j:j
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Firstly - congratulations on those savings! :T

Secondly... I'm sorry. It was all bright and shiny, so I couldn't resist. But you can have it back now. Passes * M O J O * I've given it a polish. ;)

On a more serious note, the memory and concentration issues should pass. Just be kind to yourself in the meantime, and don't try for too much too soon. :A

Thankyou :) You'd think so, wouldn't you? I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it at the moment. I'm kind of just taking things one day at a time, I get stressed when I think of doing the work on the house, so to be honest, I'm not thinking about it at the moment :o

    Thanks Hollyberry :)

I had wondered where my MOJO had been :D It's not arrived yet, so I'm thinking it may still be on it's way? ;)

I hope the memory and concentration will get better, at the moment the I feel pretty much the same as before I started taking the damn tablets :( I feel totally useless at the moment and I'm worried about work, I need to get back.

Good call. That kind of thing is a big job (not that i've done anything like that but my sister and BiL have lots of works to do on their place and it has been very hard work for them to get it done - I don't envy you, although I'm sure will be worth it in the end) and worth waiting til you feel better. The money will just earn interest so no harm in it sitting there til you feel ready to tackle it.

I've spent some time this evening looking at utilities for my new flat. I only need to find elec supplier as the flat is part of a communal gas system for heating / cooking. I think the best is going to be npower and work out at about £200 for the year.

However phone / broadband is completely confusing me. I can't work out if I need a BT line or not and then if worth getting packages or just getting it all seperately.

I thought Virgin were a good offer but have a feeling they won't service my block.

Although I think there's a satelite dish if Sky turn out to be the best option?!

I don't really understand it all and so think will need to look into this further!
I'm such an internet addict though, can't imagine having to wait for weeks while my internet is connected

Yeah, I need to sort myself out first. As you say it'll sit there earning interest in the meantime.

Did you follow Martin's instructions? Check quidco aswell, see if you can get cashback too

Not sure about that, especially with it being a flat. I've just got Plusnet phone and broadband and a freeview box. I need to check my Plusnet account though to check I'm not going over 10Gb. Also check quidco for this too! :D

    Hello

Thought I would give a little update, although there's not a whole lot going on.

I paid £50 off my credit card this morning.

I tried to search for new house insurance quotes. I did all the searches, but got really confused about trying to compare the different searches on the different sites (that one includes legal assistance, that one doesn't, that one has home emergency cover, that one doesn't etc, etc). In the end I got really frustrated and gave up. I'm a bit annoyed with myself as I try to always find the best deal, but my concentration span is terrible at the moment. I don't think my renewal quote is that bad and I get £50 cashback from Halifax aswell so hopefully it'll be ok.

Other news is that I cancelled my Amazon card. I only opened it for the £15 which I got and then closed it :p

The most worrying piece of news is that I have discovered that nearly £3k of my savings is earning interest at 0.1%:eek: I think I'm going to find a new ISA and move the ~£3k into it. I might also move the money from my IF ISA if the interest rate is better on the new one.

Not much other news I'm afraid. Going to the doctors this afternoon about my ears.

Gwen - do you also pay BT for a phone line or do you just pay Plusnet for the broadband and phone?

That is the bit that confuses me!

My flatmate looks after our broadband and I found out our bill is about £50 per month!!!! Which is for phone and broadband - nightmare!

No. I pay Plusnet for line rental, calls and broadband.

£50 is high, but how many of you are there? Do you all make quite a few calls? At least with your new flat, you'll be in charge of all the bills...actually I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not :rotfl:
