Thanks Shoe Gal, I'm getting there. I'm just having a coffee, then I'm going to get on with some tidying before I go out for lunch. I used to be the worst procrastinator in the world...every piece of Uni coursework I had was completed in a blind panic in the early hours of the morning, but these days, for the most part, I just like to get things done. I'm sick of living like this, in a carp house, with debt. I want things to be better and I'll work as hard as it takes to sort it out. Also, at the moment, I feel like with my Mum being ill I've lost time and I have to make it up. Right, I'm going to get on. Have a nice day everybody, it looks lovely out there!

    Morning lovely,

great to hear you sounding more positive & that's a great list of achievements.

Grrrr to Hastings  get your armour on & do battle. Just annoy the hell out of them with your persistance. I usually save these tasks for the 'moon week' when I'm at my peak of whininess / rage ;).

Happy tidying - I'm on my coffee break too :D

I suspect your 'coffee break' means that your chores for the day have already begun, while I'm still in my PJ's and have only managed to look at blood pressure monitors online so far :o Ah well, it'll all get sorted eventually...

I don't intend to let Hastings Direct off the hook. I can't believe them  There's a lot of p*ssed off people on the thread on the insurance board as well. Promises, promises, empty promises... I'm debating either ringing them up and going 'Look I'm not going to give up, you'll have to give them to me eventually, so why don't you just send me a cheque now for £30, we'll call it quits and you won't have to compensate me for any more phone calls or letters...' or whether to look at the leaflet about some ombudsman or other that they sent me and see if complaining to them does anything...

I've just updated the front page of my diary, where I outlined 'The Plan'. So far, it's going ok. Slower than I'd have liked, but it's generally all been heading in the right direction. The only thing left on there that I really haven't tackled yet is the mortgage. Now it looks like my job isn't going anywhere and I'll be here for a while yet, I should maybe look into this.

As Lula says, good to hear you sounding positive. (I am still in PJ's too - only breakfast and coffee break achieved so far :o)

Yeah, I'm trying to be, although I had a panic attack type thing in the shower yesterday, which wasn't nice. I've had a few now. I'm glad I've got a doctor's appointment for this week. I'm going to see if he can give me anything to see me through until I can start the counselling. I'm trying to be positive though for the most part. It will be ok. It has to be ok. As Cheryl Cole would say (or maybe wouldn't now :o) 'Quitting's out of the question..' :D

Also, I had a long chat with POF man on Friday night and he sounds quite lovely. Really lovely. I'm slightly worried now that I'm getting my hopes up too much, but he's clever and funny and really great. Also a bit worried that he's way too clever, good looking, funny and generally sorted to be interested in me when he gets to know me, but he seems keen at the moment.

I've just worked out that since I started implementing 'The Plan' I've saved ~£70 per month from my fixed outgoings by getting better deals on gas and electricity, lowering my council tax band, paying off my overdraft, moving phone and broadband, getting a cheaper mobile contract etc, etc :j I've also learnt to shop online as much as possible to make use of discount codes and quidco and I've learnt to hit the M&S food hall in the evening early in the week and stalk the lady with the yellow stickers for cheap convenient meals ;)

I need to get my switch to Nationwide sorted out once and for all, get my energy switch to npower done and my phone and broadband moved over to Plusnet and I think I've done as much as I can for now to reduce outgoings. I need to concentrate on making extra money...selling things, matched betting etc, etc and hopefully getting this place looking smarter in the process.

    Evening!

I got a letter from IF yesterday, about my ISA. This is where most of my 'house renovation' savings are currently residing. I've earned ~£88 in interest since last September! I've updated my sig accordingly. I still need to update my World Cup countdown figure as well.

However, I did update my World Cup countdown figure with the Plusnet cashback which has taken me over £200.

I've sent off the form to have my salary moved, which should make money management easier. I still need to sit down this weekend and figure out exactly what money should be where. I think it's all roughly right now, but just want to double check.

Soon I'll need to look for the best place to put my savings for the next year. I will probably be emptying them at some point, so I need to bear that in mind.

I also need to think again about getting another fixed rate for my mortgage

My house insurance is up at the end of April so I'm hoping to get some cashback there. Nationwide should be paying me £50 in April, then I'm hoping to move to First Direct for £100  I'd like to apply for an American Express card on quidco for £60 cashback, but I daren't until I've managed to close some cards and I can't do that until the balances are transferred

That's about it for now. Continuing with the list tonight. In fact I may even write a new one
